Actually they're only dead because they've not been charged in years. I could probably plug them in and get some use out of them.
But I may look into that if necessary, can I still take them to apple to be replaced or do they not support those anymore?
I don't know if Apple will still replace them, but you can find lots of video's to DIY. Back when I did my first one, Apple wanted close to $100 to do the battery swap. I picked up the battery for $15, followed the steps and saved $85. Find a geek kid in the neighborhood who wants to make a few bucks and you don't need to mess with it.
