I’m planning on signing up for the iUP and while I do have a good credit score (700ish) that I’ve been working on increasing through the past years (it’s a long story, but I semi-****ed up my credit score because I was young and stupid, but am getting back on the right tracks).

From what I’ve read so far, there was a ton of bad experience in 2015 (when the iUP first launched) since CB was denying people with good credit scores, etc. But I haven’t heard much from the later years.

I think I’m on the right track (Discover recently increased my credit limit by a lot, even though I was previous denied it because of high balances) and should have a good chance of getting accepted [worst case scenario, I pay for it outright - which I can afford. I will either upgrade every other year or just sell the phone the following year to upgrade or join iUP next year], but I was curious if anyone has had negative experience with the credit checks (or any information about it).

I did notice that people with poor / fair credit scores were getting approved by iUP, but I wanted to see if there have been any “updates” thus far since those reports were from 2015.

I was accepted for iUP for the X with my 580-620 score (depending on which service you ask). I think the mass of rejections from the first year was people not realizing that the bank rejects debit cards, since that’s not normal. And maybe not realizing that they authorize three monthly payments all at once, plus charge for taxes, so a lot more credit is needed up front.
