Hey all. I’m looking at buying some used last gen accessories or maybe even current ones if I can get a deal. Do fake versions exist on the marketplace? I’m just wondering if this is something I should be worried about. Obviously fakes are a big issue with things like AirPods but I’m not sure if it extends to Mac accessories.

Thanks.

Fake iPhone accessories (charging cables, power adapters, protective cases, even AirPods) are relatively common online - but Mac accessories. Haven't really heard of or seen it.

Thanks. Yeah I know stuff like AirPods is huge. I just didn’t know if things like the Magic Mouse were faked.

Anyone know if I will run into issues if I buy a sealed Magic mouse/trackpad 1 or Wireless Keyboard that has the batteries already installed? Will they come corroded out of the box?

Sorry, to be clear, they are being faked. Even Mice, as you can confirm online (I originally meant to and should have made this in my first reply above). I just don‘t think it‘s anywhere as widespread as iPhone accessories in that it's spilling over to Amazon and high street retailers or online marketplaces. You may still want to beware of stores that look too dodgy and deals that look too good to be true.

Put differently: Fake iPhone accessories are a thing that I could imagine my mum inadvertently buying. Mice and keyboard... rather unlikely ;)

In the case of 1st/previous generation Magic Mice/Trackpad and Wireless Keyboards, I can well imagine some retailers having overstock. Also, professional counterfeiters would by now probably be targeting current generation products.
