Have a few apps such as AP MOBILE and
MSNBC.COM that use push notifications to
    message new news stories.

Are these push notifications counted as
text messages or are they separate?

I am concerned since I have a limited
    text plan.

    Thanks

Of course not! Push Notifications use data. If you have a unlimited data plan then you have nothing to worry about.

    Vandam,

Had no idea what separated the
two between texting and push notification.

So, thank you for the clarification.

Not a problem:). I know at first some people may get confused because when receiving a text message and a push notification look awfully similar.
