I guess this is why 1080i/p looks better on my Pioneer 151 60" than movies from Apple TV. Though on a 37" Panasonic plasma Apple TV looks not bad.

Something people also forget is that the 720/1080 i/p business is a tiny part of the overall picture quality - most stuff is heavily compressed.

Compare HDCAM SR's data rate of 440Mbps with the data rate of something in HD from Apple TV. From memory a 40min SR tape holds well over 100GB.

Does it honestly matter? It's all down to user prefrance. My LCD has a sharper cleaner image with 1080 if it was as clean I. 720 that's what I would use. Give it a few years and HD plus will be the next big thing same as Betamax vs VHS then VHS vs DVD now DVD vs br.

It's a marketing tool used by big companies to make u spend money. I'll bump this thread in five years time when everyone is banging on about 2160i or some other such crap.
