Are odd gaps in Match normal... is it just taking a while?

Hi

I set up Match a few days ago, and it did not seem to be doing anything. I played with the fields it displays in iTunes, and I can see that every single track has the status of 'waiting'... and now on my iPhone I have a bunck of albums with the cloud logo... of which some have every track available, and others only have one or two. Does it take a while, or is it only recognising certain tracks from a given album?
