Has anybody been able to find where podcasts are in the new Apple TV? I don't see any kind of "Podcasts" app and I fear I'm stuck using Airplay from my iPad.

One of the things I really liked about my ATV3 was that I could plop down on the couch and catch up on my video podcasts. It would be a shame if this was gone. I would suspect even if it is it must be temporary.

No podcast app, but you can stream them from your computer using home sharing as a stopgap until the situation is resolved. (Video podcasts are no longer full screen on iOS 9 podcast app, really hope they fix that soon.)

Thanks. That's a good idea. I'm going to give that a try.

Otherwise, I really like this new Apple TV. You can finally fast forward and reverse in video now! That was borderline impossible in ATV3.

Hmm, it doesn't look like you can stream podcasts via Homesharing. I can stream music, movies, TV shows but podcasts are not available. At least I couldn't figure out how to make it work. If anyone is able to get this working please let me know that it is possible.

In iTunes on your Mac, well I assume Mac, on the top menu bar go to iTunes > Preferences > Sharing and either share your entire library, or just the podcasts if you like.

Then on the Apple TV (quit the Computers App if its running) Start the Computers App, choose your shared library and podcasts should be in the main list.

Using Xcode. Open the devices window, select the Apple TV and there's a screenshot button. You can also use QuickTime to capture video from it.

Thanks. I thought, and hope, it'll be the combination of buttons on RC, like on the Watch. :)

Unfortunately not, but should you ever have the desire to capture a screen Xcode is a free download from the AppStore on OS X and you can now get a free developer account from Apple which would let you do it (and have the added bonus of being able to install apps Apple don't want you to ;))

Hmm.. Intriguing. :)

It looks like you will have to use provider-supplied apps to view your podcasts. TWiT has its own app. The YouTube app can play the podcasts on YouTube.com. You get the idea.

I find this to be a big step down from what they had before. I liked having a list of favorites that was updated automatically. Having to jump from app to app is how it is done on Roku. This was one of my favorite features with the old AppleTV. Also, you could start a podcast on the AppleTV and resume play on the iPhone/iPad ( or visa versa).

I hope they bring this feature back. :(

Submit a feature request to Apple. They actually do listen to user feedback and the more requests they get for something, the more likely they are to do it.

I'm with you 100% on this. Having ONE unified place for podcasts that synced with my iPhone/iPad was awesome. I'm shocked it's gone.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pocket Casts and OverCast are working on Apple TV apps. Personally, I prefer Pocket Casts and they tend to get apps out on other platforms pretty quickly so I'd like to see one soon. Plus they have really nice sync that lets you pickup where you left off on the web, phone, tablet, etc.

The MLB App is different as well. The one demoed is the 2016 version so maybe these are the new versions. The one in the App Store say there is a new app coming for the 2016 season.
