Are screen protectors and bumpers really necessary? Just curious what the general consensus is on this. I hear about how rugged it is supposed to be compared to the regular Apple Watch. I love the look of the Ultra and would hate to cover it up with an ugly bumper. I rocked the Series 4 without any protection for 5 years and it held up well and I work with my hands in an industrial setting. There are a few hairline scratches in the glass, but nothing major. Just curious how others feel about the topic.

Definitely not necessary and usually frowned upon on such a beautiful and rugged titanium watch with a sapphire crystal display. I love my Ultra 2 and would never put either on mine for any reason.

I don’t wear one on my normal watch and it is scuffed up, but I seriously don’t understand what people are doing to shatter their screens. I do a lot more physical stuff just in every day life than I would say the average person does and I’ve hit my wrist on tough metal before. Maybe it’s because I just lead with my lead hand so much?

AppleCare+ if you're worried about damage, it's really not that much extra. Otherwise, wear it and enjoy it without any add-ons.

These Smart Watches, Apple Watch Ultra included, are really consumables. They aren't heirlooms you're intending to hand down to future generations or something like an ultra fancy Rolex or the like. They'll eventually be out of date due to software support killing them off.

As a result, wear them and let any nicks be a reflection of the time you used it. You're being etched permanently onto it just as much as it is etching itself onto you.
