I know initially everything was June, and now most 42mm models are July with most 38mm being 1-2 or 4-6 weeks. Is there any sort of trend for new orders? I ask because I'm torn between ordering a second watch (38mm SS BCB) in addition to the 42mm WSB Sport I already have ordered (scheduled to deliver May 14-20).

If shipping times are improving, then I'll just use the Sport until things quiet down then sell it for a SS when they're available. The other reason I am thinking of ordering a 38mm is because I'm not sure how they will look on the wrist. I don't live near an Apple store, so I can't try them on. My wrists are 165-175mm. Even if I like the 42 more, I'll still probably swap for an SS at some point. Dat saffire....

They are absolutely not improving.

You should expect about a 2 month wait through this preorder disaster, as that is still what many of us are facing from ordering early on 4/10.

Dont order a 38 mm, its really tiny. Keep your 42mm one.

eek:

I am also waiting for a 42mm may 14-20. Wsb. Hoping it improves a bit. I don't understand why people who pre ordered on day one are still waiting. What a mess.

Considering I was reading a thread today of a bunch of people getting their shipments ahead of time, it sounds like you're being a pessimist.

The first four responses are so awful. Order times are absolutely improving as evidenced by all the activity last night and today. Some people just forgot to set their alarm and are a little grumpy :)

The only one I've seen improve is for the 38mm SS Classic buckle, from 2-3 weeks down to 1-2 weeks today.

The 4-6 week thread (may 13-27) seems to show a bunch shipping ahead of schedule. Just SS Link, SB Link, LL, and Modern Buckle aren't moving...lot's of activity last night and today, at least more than we have seen since launch day...we shall see if that continues...

We have shipping estimates of 2 months after the preorder. I think pessimism is pretty rightly justified here.

Apple has barely made it out of the 10-20 minute mark for many preorders, particular the Watch of Doom (42mm SG Sport). Did those people forget to set their alarm? I doubt it.

People need to stop fooling themselves. Order times are absolutely not improving. This is going to be a huge wait for most of us, end of story.

I think there is plenty of evidence on this forum showing things are improving...just not for your watch...sorry!

Perhaps certain models/countries have improved. But on the whole, no, the situation is just as bad as it was the past few days, and it's not going to get better anytime soon. Particularly if you ordered a 42mm SG, which it looks like everyone else in the universe did.

Just saw in your post history you didn't order until 8am on preorder day? What were you thinking?

The CORRECT answer? We don't know. We've seen some models appear to get a little ahead of projected dates. We've seen others not ship at all (42mm SS Leather Loop for example). We see bursts of shipping then quiet periods. We have no idea the rate that orders were confirmed each minute from 0 to 20 and beyond.

My advice if you potentially want another watch that is on back order is to get in the queue. You can always cancel later.

My personal opinion is that Apple will get ahead of current estimates but not by as much as people are hoping.

Three of my friends at work made a deliberate choice to expect a delay, therefore if their watches arrive before the end of July they will be satisfied.

Even though they ordered late on launch day, being experienced with the typical waits for any new Apple product and the long estimated date range they were given for the watch, I do believe they've done the right thing in accepting that it's going to be a long time before they ever see their watches.

The good news is they are assured of getting one, it's just going to be a very long wait.

well 15-20 more days and my SS with WSB comes.

When you say it like that...it sounds like nothing.
We are all getting worked up about a couple weeks really.
Trying to just convince myself that I don't need it yet.
Trying to convince myself that JUNE ISN'T FAR AWAY.

It's the right way to think about it. Or perhaps to say to oneself "as far as I'm concerned, the watch doesn't release until July".

But many people have become accustomed to being the very first ones to get each new Apple device. Doing so has always been possible if you just waited up until the website went live, or at worst, camped in line. This time, NO ONE had a guaranteed way to get the watch at launch. That's driven some people a wee bit nuts.

Yes it's true. I've participated since the very first iPhone. This time I was lucky since the moment the site went live I was ready, completed my order in less than two minutes. Then just minutes later I got the confirmation email. My watch arrived 10am launch day. Only two others that are in my wide circle of Apple enthusiast friends got their watches launch day.

In some ways mine was better than expected. It was important for me to try one first hand. I enjoyed playing with it extensively for a full seven days , then I returned it. It just didn't have anything compelling or beneficial for me.

see new post.
I ordered on 5/29.
Originally got a "June" shipment date.
Just got changed to June 1-12.

So it is improving.

Depends on what your ordering however overall Shipping times are more or less what they are saying. Maybe two days early which is meaninglessness
Would have been more satisfaction to hear Apple make a statement why wait is so long
