ive just bought a Spigen liquid crystal case for my iPhone Xr, I am just wondering are these cases safe, has anyone got any good or bad experiences with Spigen cases? Thanks

The Spigen clear cases will discolour and go yellow within a couple of months. I used to use one with my iPhone X and now my XS Max.
Most of these style of cases with silicon type edges need regular cleaning. A bit of lint entering the edge will scratch up that nice shiny edge finish (if you have it). The front and rear off the handset have a glass finish and I don't worry about those scratching anyways (never have in the past). Its the chrome edges of my handset that I want to protect.
Ive ordered a different case to try out - arriving today!

I had no trouble with Spigen cases on previous phones, but in my X they've scratched the stainless steel.
I've thrown away the Thin Fit because that left a bad scratch and the two piece Tough Armor have scratched too

Would the tech21 transparent cases discolour ?

From what I have seen all clear TPU cases discolor over time. It has to do with the material absorbing the oils in your skin. You could always go for a smoke clear case. The discoloring will not be anywhere as noticeable.

As far as the OPs question. I have never had a problem with any Spigen cases. But with my black 7 plus I did notice that the inside pattern of my Sligen Rugged Armor left a ghost impression on the back. I never really tried to do anything about it as I traded it in. So don't know if it was temporary or permanent.

I had the ghosting thing with a Spigen tough armor case but i was able to remove it(iPhone 7) used one on the 8 without issue. I am back to Otterbox right now, I like blocky cases, but I just learned in another thread I am doing it wrong. Apparently those of us that like cases and screen protectors are "weirdos".

Really? I must be really bloody weird then. Every phone I get has several cases I swap between but I went over the top with my X

Is it just the Spigen clear cases that pose a scratch risk to the iPhone if dust gets in between the phone and case or would any clear case do this? Thanks

Any of them. It one reason I use Apple cases, the microfiber lining stops dust getting in

If the rumour of the official Apple clear case is true, do you think this case will have any protective lining or do you think it will just be clear. Thanks

I hadn't heard about that but I'm guessing no lining, otherwise it wouldn't be clear

So even with the Apple case the phone may get scratched with dust between the phone and case? I’m tempted to buy the Apple case when it comes out but if there’s still the possibility of it scratching the phone when dust gets inside it I would recinsider

I'm guessing the ghosting never happend on the 8 because of the glass back. Just curious what did you use to remove it on your 7.

I think I’ll just stick with the Spigen case I’ve ordered, it will be nice to see the design with the case

They are the best cases you can buy

That’s good to here, this is my first Spigen case, that’s why I’m a little worried that the liquid crystal case may scratch my phone, but looking forward to being able to see the gorgeous design and colour with this case

I’ve used the Liquid Crystal and Air Armor on the last few iPhones I’ve had. No issues. I would take them off every week or so and clean them. Well worth the money.

Thanks for your reply, I’m hearing a lot of good things about Spigen cases, can’t wait to put mine on my new iPhone Xr
