The BeatsX though a good product has not been updated since inception unlike the AirPods or other beats products with latest chips. So it'd be a good idea (if it matters) to see if apple upgrades them, else they are solid buy.

Love my beats X had them for 2 years!! 3 days a week at the gym and mowing the lawn in summer and snow blowing in winter they’ve been flawless!! Along with occasional use here and there.

Love my BeatsX, not sure where the bad press comes from? they sound amazing.

They're very loud, lovely bass, crystal clear... I use them at the office and can crank them right up and nobody around me can hear them.

I also own the Solo 3, Airpods and Sennheiser HD25-C II .. the BeatsX is by far my favourite.

I really love the range on the Beats X, I can leave my desk and roam around in the office (even go to the next floor) and they stay connected. At my house they stay connected everywhere.

I've bought 3 pairs in the last 2 years, because if I don't hang them around my neck (the magnetic earbuds snap together), I try to store them on my coat or jacket and I kept losing them. None of the 3 pairs bought gave me any troubles at all. I'm still using the last pair bought.

... - they're very light - I don't notice the weight on my neck at all. I've used them for moderate mountain biking and walking exercise. They're not marketed as sweat-proof but I've certainly sweat in them to no ill effect.

how are they for running and gym? does the long wire and neck part flap around and shake?
also another random question, does the neck band/battery portion get in the way if youre laying down flat in bed and youre laying down on it basically?

I've run a couple hours with them, sweating profusely and they keep going without a hitch.

Although the band's weight is not noticeable on the neck, they are not exactly/completely balanced, so after an hour or more running they tend to start tugging the left earbud, and if left unchecked it can get the earbud out of the ear.

Yesterday my second Beats x died. First got a broken inner cable and was replaced within warranty second got the dreaded whit red flashing. maybe I forgot to turn it off but after one week of not charging the battery died. lots of cases if you google it. Very disappointed I will never buy anything from beats again.

My BeatsX gave up yesterday after 2.5 years of use. My experience with it has been good, couldn't have asked for more. I would love to buy them over again, but this time I am looking forward to upgrade to the AirPods Pro.
