Im due to have my desplay replaced to address this issue but i want to be sure there's an actual fix and if the new models still exhibit this issue then its making me wary of getting it replaced as i don't want to get an inferior washed out 9C84 display installed and still have this issue

The genius tightened the hinge but it didn't solve the issue however he thought it should be replaced as other machines he made comparisons with didn't exhibit this issue

i believe if you check under the panel (I have yet to do this), you can find the hinge and tighten it with a trox screw.

Since I myself never use the laptop on the bed, i find it great that i can lift the laptop screen without having to hold the bottom

Oh and yeah, the 13" screens are definitely tight, 15" is definitely loose.

i have MBP 13... and it does not seems to have that problem at all...
it does not fall down at all.... its rock solid...

10 people have floppy screens- and they all post here.

Seriously, the design is not nearly as poor as one may read.

This 15" late '08 mbp is perfect. And I would guess that 99% of them are. Apple shipped 2.6 million computers last quarter, and I doubt that the ten people here represent the majority.

Seriously, don't read into these forums too much. You're doing yourself a disservice by assuming those looking for help or advice represent what you'll take home.

Get over it people. The Unibodies rock.

I guess I got lucky since my screen will not move by itself no matter at what position it is. It won't close down by itself and it won't fully open by itself either.

I need to stop reading stuff in here, or otherwise I might talk myself out of getting a uMBP.

Is it so bad that the screen seems like it may easily, er, break off?
