Are there actually people silly enough to buy the SIM-locked iPhone 12 Pro Max for $1,099 sold and shipped by Amazon.com right now?(October 2021)

Please absolutely do NOT buy this.... the link is for informational purpose only.... then again, what do I know? Is this actually a "good" deal? It does come with free $3.13 Amazon gift card balance every month for 24 months(total $75 after 24 months), so that's as good as cash which is as good as money, no? I'm confused....
