I have a 2019 MacBook Pro 19" (A2141) with the T2 chip running 14.6.1 (Sonoma) The keyboard on this thing has issues - the keyboard is worn out and some of the keys don't work.

The right side ports no longer recognize any drives plugged into them, but will accept power just fine. I read that this may be an SMC issue and that I should reset the SMC.

To reset the SMC on this machine with the T2 chip, I have to press the left control, left option, right shift, and the power button. Unfortunately the left option key is one of the keys that have stopped working.

Is there another way to reset the SMC on this machine? If I plug in a USB Mac keyboard, will that work? Does the discharging the battery all the way trick work with this machine? I'm not sure if I want to shell out $350 to replace the keyboard on this thing.
