For a moment I was excited, thought you'd found a helpful link 😉
To be clear, I already have several USB-C to DisplayPort cables, but they wouldn't help me with the dock I pictured; though it has two USB-C ports, one is for power-in and the other can only be used for data/peripherals, it doesn't carry video.
What I'm looking for is a dock like the one pictured, that lets me both charge my MacBook and connect my DisplayPort monitor at the same time. Ideally it would simply have a DisplayPort port instead of an HDMI one, but a third, video-capable USB-C port would work just as well.
Then why is an HDMI to Display Port adapter not a workable solution with your current hub? You want Display Port, not mini-Display Port (which looks like a Thunderbolt 2), correct?
Whoa, is that even a thing that exists? I know of DisplayPort to HDMI, but not the other way around.
And at the moment I don't have a hub, I'm using a 2015 13" MacBook Pro that has all the ports built in. But I'd like to move to a 2018 MacBook Pro that has only the two Thunderbolt ports, that's why I need to get a dock/hub now.
This one isn't quite as slick, but has a couple USB-A ports, ethernet, DisplayPort, and a power-in USB-C port, and it will leave your Mac's other TB/USB-C port free. I don't know anything about it's reliability, however:
