Are there games that don't work with boot camp?

Not a big gamer in the past, but becoming more interested of late. Last year I finally installed windows xp via bootcamp on a second HD. Played the half life 2 series, Crysis, UT3, Portal, so I'm looking to buy a few more games via steam but just concerned about plunking down money on a game if there are any inherent issues with a bootcamp installed version of XP.

system is 2006 Mac Pro 2 x 2.6 dual core intel xeon, 8 GB with an ATI Radeon 1900 512 mb.

Like to know what I can play and cannot.

On a side note considering upgrading the graphics card to the Radeon 4870.

games considering: Boderlands, Deus Ex Human Revolution, mass effect 2, left for dead 2, modern warfare 2, COD black ops,

It just depends on the hardware reqs. they are 1:1 to any other machine running the same specs under Windows.

The Radeon 1900 will be horrible, you'll need to upgrade to play those games.

Oh and update the drivers, since the default apple ones tend to be ancient.

    Dual core VS single processor?

Thanks. Probably a dumb question but regarding CPU, a dual core 2.66 is equal to what speed single processor? For example is a dual core 2.66 as fast as a single 3.2? As an example COD modern warfare 2 requires an intel 3.2 but there is a youtube vid of that game playing on a macbook which I believe has a dual core 2.66 processor, so I'm not sure how to compare mine with the system requirements listed for single processors.

team fortress 2 is free to play on steam, works on windows and mac and has cross platforming gaming where mac and pc's both play together

If you upgrade the graphics card to what you state you will able to play all of those games on at least medium settings at a decent res.

You can't compare single core and dual core speeds. The jobs they are good at are not the same.

You can't even compare clock speeds, as some processors are much more efficient per clock.

What I can tell you is that your Core 2 Duo at 2.66ghz will be faster than a Pentium 4 at 3.2 ghz, even for tasks that aren't parallelizable.

Bottom line: Yes, you are above minimum specs.

MW2 requires a PENTIUM 4 at 3.2. Your MP uses a whole generation newer CPU which is much faster than Pentium 4, clock-per-clock. Your 2.66 CPU is VASTLY faster than a Pentium 3.2.

As for video, you should upgrade to a 5770.
