I've been looking at the images and watching the guided tour and from the sounds of it, there are no more icons on the desktop.

    Is that true?

I'm not sure I like that idea. It forces me to be organized which I definitely am not.

But what about files and downloads? Can they still be on the desktop?

You can move a downloaded file to the desktop but like the video shows all downloaded stuff automatically goes to the download stack.Which in my opinion is great.
