Monday will be focused on macbooks, and maybe the third gen airpods. iPad Pro is very unlikely, considering that the last update was only in april

Thank you.

Any other iPads then or no ?

Will normal iPads ever get Face ID ?

I will never say never because sometimes Apple surprise us with unexpected products in their events, but I don’t we will see iPads of any kind monday. The base ipad and ipad mini were updated a few weeks ago, so I think that if there was an ipad air update, it would have been in the september event.

Regarding FaceID, there are no rumors to expand it in the near future to other ipads, but I’m sure that apple plans to expand FaceID in the next few years.

Next April would be the time to see a incremental change if they do it to iPad Pro. The buyers guide shows neutral so little chance presently of those models at the moment.

What this event is mainly about:

A 14" redesigned AS based MBP that replaces the M1 13" MBP.
A 16" redesigned AS based MBP that replaces the Intel 16" MBP

Feels like apple rushed the 2021 update to improve covid sales. M1 is already years ahead of the os. And there isn’t even already an M2. I wouldn’t expect another pro update until 2023.

Standard and mini just got updated. So that leaves Air which is now behind the mini and due for improvements. So next year for sure.

Considering the 2020 Pro wasn't really much of an update over the 2018 Pro, rather than being rushed, the 2021 Pro actually felt more like a long delayed release (almost 3 year before we got a "proper" upgrade to the 2018 Pro).

If there is going to be any iPad update it will be the Air 5, but there is no guarantee it will happen this year. Every other iPad has had an update this year.

Base 2018 iPad Pro has 4GB of RAM while base 2020 iPad Pro has 6GB of RAM and 2021 has 8GB/16GB. The prior models had 4GB of RAM. If Apple is planning on some major upgrade to iPadOS it will have to take the base 2018 4GB of RAM into consideration and improved with 6GB. The 8 and 16GB is way overkill for iPadOS as it stands today. Actually Apple could run a modified macOS on iPad and 4-6GB RAM may suffice. Unless Apple plans on giving the middle finger to 2018 and 2020 iPad Pro owners.

iPhone 12-13 Pro have 6GB of RAM while the rest non-Pro versions have 3-4GB. I believe what the RAM is going to come down to is running particular software in acceptable to very well situations. Consider Blender on iPad Pro as an example.

Considering Macs have swap and iPads do not, I actually find 8-16GB RAM more useful on the iPad than the Mac.

On iPads with 4GB RAM, I find apps/tabs have started reloading quite often since iPadOS 13 and out of memory crashes also occur more frequently. Heck, I've had instances where one of the apps on side-by-side would crash.

Question being is it a hardware memory issue or a software memory management issue. iOS has been managing with limited memory for a long time but that does not mean it cannot be improved further upon.

Consider most iPad owners use it as a secondary device or use it for basic computing or browsing activities the base 2-4GB of RAM is ample for these purposes. The 6GB base on the 2020 iPad Pro is still running strong. My guess the RAM limitations will be based on the expandability of certain apps.
