At the moment...

CPU fan: 499 RPM
PCIe/HDD fan: 499 RPM
Rear fan: 599 RPM
Power Supply: 599 RPM

(Stats from SMC Fan Control)

At these speeds, my Mac Pro 1,1 is clearly audible from across a room, and it's definitely annoying to have next to me on my desk. My GPU is rather loud, but even with it in, the Mac Pro can still be heard from feet away, while my brother's 2008 Mac Pro (filled with lint, while my machine is sparkling clean) is extremely quiet. I know I posted a similar thread about this already, but I wanted to note my fan speeds in this one. If these are totally normal fan speeds (which I am assuming they are), then I may have issues with worn-out fans. Here is a VERY quick video I made of the Mac Pro's loudness. My camera picked up a lot of white noise, but the Mac is still clearly audible:

Here are my current temps with Opera open on MacRumors--they seem good; the CPU A Proximity can be as low as ~85F, and doesn't normally go past ~113F. Northbridge heat-sink is at 151F, which may be cutting it close. My Mac is running with two HDDs, four 1GB RAM sticks, and a Radeon 5770:

I use Mac Fans Control and here are my temps on my Mac Pro (see my sig for specs).
The only app open is Safari reading MR.

Here's my 1,1 flashed to 2,1:

I have to put my ear next to it to even hear anything from it. I am running a flashed PC HD7950 GPU.

Mine would/will make a humming sound from and by the case itself from early on such that I can feel the case on upper front corner and / or rear lower. I put some acoustic foam around the inside of the door... it drove me crazy! but not fans or 5770 as source. Started when I put WD 10K Raptor (the model before the VelociRaptor came out).

All my FBDIMMs are ~59-60*C

That's how it is with my brother's 2008 Mac Pro... this is upsetting. This Mac spent 2006-2014 in a graphic-design office, so I am sure it got hours and hours of usage; the fans must be worn out or something. That being said, I replaced the frontal fans, and it still seems as though they are fairly loud. Something tells me that if I were to replace every fan in the system, it would probably not help.

I wonder if I can oil these fans. I noticed a sticker on the back of the PCIe fan... I wonder: can I peel that back to reveal an oil reservoir?
