You have an interesting definition of harsh and I doubt mods could give better advice. Why are you guys being this harsh on him?
He clearly came here because he needs advice and a lot of the things you guys consider "obvious" are completely alien to him.
Man I wish mods were active because a lot of you had potential to leave good posts but instead just throw generalized garbage at him.
To the OP:
What is your BUDGET and where are you buying this computer? )

The OP only very reluctantly gives any info out, that's why people are giving general advice.
I already asked him about his budget and offers he has on mentioned macbook ...
Thats your opinion. You also recommended he get an iPad to replace a fully fledged computer when he said he occasionally does file transfers. While 'possible' to perform file transfers on an iPad, it's extremely poor at that task and I fail to see how an iPad would EVER replace a full computer especially when the person already admitted to having a budget high enough to buy a MacBook. Even a used 2011 MacBook 13" Pro would be a better instrument for someone in his position than an iPad.

To the OP:
What is your BUDGET and where are you buying this computer? There are options for you:
Your HP DV6 is a 15.6" laptop so I'm guessing you might be open to 15" laptops? If so, I would consider a refurbished (By Apple, not ANYONE else) 15" non-Retina MacBook Pro. It can be had for nearly the same price as a new 13" Classic Pro but it also has an optical drive, upgrade capability and a large hard drive.
The 2012 Classic Pro is not a bad choice (The laptop you listed) but you can get it a lot cheaper through other venues. Apple themselves sell refurbished units with the same warranty for cheaper than new and you can buy Apple Care for them.
I would also check out the Marketplace here. You might be able to find a Classic 15" or 13" that's still under warranty from a reputable seller and maybe even a local seller. (We have members from all over the world)
I know about computers but there doggin me cuz I'm not getting the latest and greatest MacBook Pro
I will give this one more try:
If you can tell the people in this forum as precisly as possible what your computing needs are, then they will give you the best advice on getting them fullfilled in the best, most affordable way. Some will always suggest a maxed out rmbp, but most (like me) will not. Thats why I suggested an iPad.
If you are set on a laptop then a refurbished 11" mba haswell can be had at a very affordable price.
Much cheaper and snappier then the model you picked.
If you are fine with a bit less in-macbook storage and superdrive.
Like someone suggested you could then get an external opticacl.
Well a retina is only a $100 more not thousands and if you just said you wanted a DVD drive no one would have suggested it.
cheapest ssd i can afford would be
SanDisk SDSSDHP-256G-Q25 Ultra Plus SSD 256GB 7mm SATA3
$160
Regardless of how great the retina may be, you are spending $100 more for a locked in 4GB and a 128GB SSD. The cMBP, can be upgraded to 16GB and up to a 1TB SSD later. On low such capacities like 128GB SSDs, you won't see benefit from it being PCIe. Yes there are things like weight and display, but it's all about usability.
For work, and if I was on a limited budget, I could go much farther with a cMBP in the long run.
I'm kind of tired of these discussions, instead of just answering the OP's questions, everyone just jumps down the throat of anyone who doesn't want a retina display.
Op, I would look into getting an a discount somewhere. You should be able to get for only $999 or so.
