Startup and shutdown times vary greatly, depending on what you have automatically launching at startup, what you have running when you shut down, your hardware configuration, etc.

No I just have the 15" base model

36" isn't bad but if it consistently takes 7 seconds to shut down, that's not right. I suppose it depends on what you've got open at the time.
