iPad Pro Are this signs of use normal after three months with Magic Keyboard

Dear all

I’m using my Magic Keyboard almost every day combined with my iPad Pro M1. I love both.

Are the signs of use in the photos normal after three months of use on Magic Keyboard? I tried to remove with a microfiber cloth with little water with no success. Than I tried a combination of isopropyl and water and no success…

Any hints? Or is normal?

Once the keys get shiney like they, there's nothing you can do. Partly because of the material being used, and partly I think due to a person's body chemistry.

I can confirm this is completely normal. My MacBook Air has shiny spots on some of the keys. I've seen it on other keyboards as well. There's no getting around little things like that when it comes to wear. Other than keeping it sealed in the box it's going to happen.

It has nothing to do with washing your hands (or not), people's body chemistry is such that it can cause reactions, its just the natural oils that on your skin. Its not anything to do with your hygiene, its just part of being human ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The keys on mine look just like that too. I've had it for over 2 years now and it's been fine. None of the keys have worn away.

My MK has some shiny keys as well. On my Mac Airs, I use a keyboard cover to prevent that from happening. I haven't seen a cover offered for the MK, although I may have missed it.

This has happened to every keyboard I’ve ever owned, it is normal. The only solution is to wear a surgical gloves when typing, but for you to do that you’d have to have OCD.

If only you have dry skin…

This is why I'm ordering the white version. I use a separate magic keyboard with my MacBook setup on my desk, and you dont get the shiny sports - simply wipe to clean and it looks like new again!
