Are transparent cases good enough to protect the glass panel at the back of iPhone 15 Pro Max and Pro?

Hi, given that these phones are so expensive, I wonder if transparent cases are good enough to protect the glass panel at the back. Anybody has their phone dropped while in these cases? Could they protect the phone?

My niece has one of those transparent frosted back cases and she’s dropped her 14 so many times and it’s still good… the camera lense protector however I’ve had to replace several times lol
