I bet it'll be a press release refresh though.
I'm thinking you're right! And it seems like Apple's going to be releasing some new headphones, an Apple TV, and possibly an iPod touch. Since Dell is starting to ship its new 13-incher how much longer will it be til Apple strikes with an update?

It proves a lot more than being an over-confident armchair quarterbacking Internet expert. @cmaier said nothing to warrant the kind of response you gave him.

Without proper information, links, and benchmarks? Let's be logical. We don't even know if Apple is ready for ARM-based Mac for real works.

No they just released the 16-inch, the same form factor may work a few years ahead for the upcoming 13/14 inch model as well. And Apple usually updates the big brother first.

Does it prove that ARM is powerful enough to replace Threadripper, Xeon, Ryzen, or etc?

Seriously, you are the one who does not prove anything with proper information or links.

What about Final Cut Pro X? Adobe? Nuke? Logic Pro? Blender? Etc? Do they even work in ARM-based computer?

We are talking about their A-series chip which only Apple design and manufacture. That's why I asked that question.

Still, being a CPU designer does NOT prove anything at all. Do you have a real-life benchmark test between ARM and x86 computers with specific software like I mentioned above?

He doesn't need to prove anything. Because your questions ( or argument since you didn't actually ask anything ) already shows your level of understanding.

If you had actually asked politely, I am sure someone would bother to explain it to you.

What? Seriously, being a CPU designer does NOT prove anything especially since he did not show or support anything to what he claimed. How am I supposed to believe that?

That's a server CPU, not what I'm talking about. Does Apple have an A-series chip to run Mac Pro? Clearly, you guys need to answer my questions first.

He gave a general remark (ARM is an architecture and from that, you cannot claim it will never give a similar performance as Intel). To which you responded with specific questions (show me the software support). That's clearly completely besides the point. It seems you don't even understand the discussion you have started.

ARM is a CPU architecture that, so far, has mainly been used for mobile. But it started its life as a desktop CPU, in the Acorn Archimedes. It was much more powerful than most chips in comparable computers at that time. Because it's power efficient, one could extrapolate that it could become a powerful yet power efficient desktop chip. That speculation is interesting, but we'll have to wait and see what Apple will come up with.
