I will probably have to buy a new Macbook next year, as my old one from 2008 is starting to be painfully slow. But I would really like a gold Macbook this time.

But the new 12 inch Macbook is simply too weak and expensive for my use. So is there a chance that the Macbook Air line and Pro line will be available in gold and space gray? This do make sense doesn´t it? As all iPhones, iPads etc etc are available in the same color variants.

I can almost hear Tim Cook on stage saying "The gold Macbook was so popular we now made every Macbook available in this color".

I wish we all knew the answer to that question.
The rumor mill was swirling that we were gonna get colored iMacs in the latest refresh, that turned out to be false. I was ready to upgrade to the space grey in a heartbeat to make it match my decor 100%. Who knows when they will do it, but I do think that it is a when question not an if.

i hope so my 2011 macbook pro trackpad been acting up
been thinking of buying a air when it gets refreshed. A space grey would look awesome with my iPhone 6s, and beats headphones

Remove the battery, see if it has a "bulge", that could be pushing on the trackpad from underneath, if so its a sweet $150 fix, and you're back in business for another 3-4 years

Should I give Tim a call and find out? Or just wait until I see him at dinner? Sorry my friend, we can't answer that one! But rumours should flare up nearer the release dates as they did for the Rose Gold iPhone 6S/6S+

I am not sure there are enough volumes to justify the inventory overhead.

$150 - you kidding right?

I bought mine new for $50 - not entirely sure if it's genuine but it certainly looks the same and holds the charge very well.

I have another one, which is 100% genuine and came from MBA 2010 which I'am selling for parts - battery has barely 100 cycles on it and I'am selling it for $27 on ebay. Granted it's not compatible with mid-2011 (already tried it - booted but machine worked very slow to the point of being unusable), but they are both worth the same amount of money.

So again, where those $150 came from? :D
