My question is: we who are trying the public beta are obligated to update to new ones?

Will something happen if I don't? If so, what?

If I must update, is there a dead line.

My concern is what I've been reading about iBooks crashing upon opening on iOS 9.1. If I can't use iBooks I might as well throw my iPad out the window.

Any input will be much appreciated.

If you're on a beta you will have an expiration date so will need to either update to the next beta or drop back to the latest general release software. In this case, if you're on 9.1 beta 1 you would either move to beta 2 or go back to 9.0.

Betas can expire and have been. The timing is often not revealed though. If you don't want to be on a beta install the latest public version and you should be all set.

You don't have to move to IOS 9.1. Just update to 9.0 tomorrow when it's released for everyone. You will have to download the ipsw and install it using iTunes.
