With the keyboard case costing $300 or $349, and with high end iPads with cellular capability costing well over $1,000, this question is increasingly important. Many 2018 iPad owners are waiting for the siupposed 2021 mini LED iPad - do we know for certain that this iPad will work with the Magic Keyboard many of us are buying? Having to buy another $400 keyboard in 2021 could be a tough pill to swallow. I assume Apple realizes. But this makes me wonder how much of an update this 2021 iPad really will be...

How could anyone be sure of what an unannounced product will look like, and which accessories would be compatible with that same nonexistent product?

I don't think Apple would make the Magic Keyboard irrelevant after only a year.

IPads are in an (r)evolution right now so we cant really guarantee anything. IF Apple ever decides to make “Pro” Apps then things like 6GB RAM or the missing Magic Keyboard top row keys could necessitate hardware updates.

It wouldn’t be made irrelevant. Apple sells multiple versions of Smart Covers so why not the Magic Keyboard? And if the 2021 iPad Pro 12.9 is supposed to really be so special then it wouldn’t be hard to imagine Apple selling a Magic Keyboard Pro.

No, they could possibly make newer versions of the Magic Keyboard that don't work with the old iPad Pros.

as I said elsewhere, it's more likely that the magic keyboard design is changed before the ipad pro design is... which means that the current one, even if replaced at some point, will still remain compatible...

Of course it will

it will be the same iPad as the 2020 just with mini LED...the casing will be no different

Happened to other keyboards of theirs prior. ASK v1 covers the first 2 generations. They might change the design again after 3 years with the current shell. But really nobody knows.
