There have been thousands of posts across all of the iPad forums regarding the WiFi issues. But it seems that the iPad is still selling like hot cakes.

Are any prospective iPad owners letting the current WiFi issues influence their purchase?

The vast majority of potential iPad users aren't viewing threads here nor do they have any idea about the wi-fi issues. Most of the public doesn't look that deeply into the purchase. They've just seen it mentioned dozens of times on many different media outlets. It has picked up its own momentum despite technical issues talked about on geek forums.

Nope. Called Apple store this morning at 9:05, they said they had some 16GB and 64GB in stock. Called back at 11:00, they were completely sold out.

I thought the Wifi was more an issue with certain routers than with the iPad.

64GB but not 64GB with 3G yet. Don't want 2 devices with the same issue.

I am thinking that a firmware update will hopefully resolve this at some point. Has anyone done a geographical breakdown of users with WiFi issues? Are they all over the country or localized to one region?

Its a combination. If the iPhone, MBP and iMac work on a specific router, you would think the iPad would also. However, a number of the problems I've read about have to do with FIOS routers and there is a fix in the router. Change WEP encryption to WPA and change the channel number to 11. That was on another thread. Another resolution was to use an Airport Extreme and connect it directly the old FIOS router using the old router as a modem. Evidently there are some hotspots that don't work either. If the problem is with a different brand of router maybe a new router is needed. Perhaps a firmware update would correct the issue. Many people have indicated they were not having any problems. Only time will tell. Since iPad inventories are constantly being sold out it doesn't seem to be affecting sales and perhaps not a wide spread problem.

Wi-Fi works fine on my iPad. Why should an obscure problem affect sales?

From the numbers I read I'd say they are having no problem.

As for WiFi, I've had no problems. I even cancelled my "backup" order of the 3G iPad. I've decided the Sprint 4G Overdrive is a better solution for wireless broadband since it services our iPads, iPhones, and MacBook Pros at one "family" price.

Then make your own decision. If it's an issue with your existing iPad and router, it will be an issue with a second iPad.

Unfortunately there is no way to tell as Apple's tech article on this is somewhat pathetic.
