I used to be.

I'd get really excited about the Keynotes to see what I didn't realize I needed and I'd be first in line to get one. But over the last few years my excitement level about all things Apple has dropped considerably. I'm not sure I like the direction they're going in. I haven't been excited about anything they've done in years.

Actually, I believe it's spelled Fanbois. My parents were part of the Homebrew Computer Club when they met Jobs and Woz and were some of the first to acquire the Apple I, II, III, III+ and subsequently Lisa which my Mom still has and runs like it was made yesterday.
Everytime I would bring up the "Fanboy" argument with my parents, they would always correct me that when it came to noted for video game consoles like Atari, and Commodore but more specifically for Apple Computers, the correct slang was always Fanbois. I had the conversation when Woz came to see his daughter Sara, me and my family a while ago because its been bugging me my whole life.

Now to answer your question; I grew up with Apple computers around me, and for 33 years I've been a fanboi just as hard as my parents before me.
They did parenting well and now, I get to pass that unto my own children who don't just get spoiled every time they can by Uncle Woz, but my husband who is a Fandroid and PC owner and swears by both whom also tries to teach the kids the ways of the darkside; they continue to reiterate their love for Apple products just as Mom and how much better Apple is than what Dad likes.
Even my 3 year old son. If he is handed an android or WinMo device, he drops it to the floor and says "I want the iPhone. this phone sucks" LOL
So having said that, I hope this answer the question. But yes. I am and will forever be a Fanboi. :D

I may have the apple logo as part of 'Tar, but that doesn't mean I consider myself a fanboy. I have all sorts of computers and phones at home. I use Windows, Macs, iPhones and windows phones. I pick the best product that fits my needs. For years (and continuing), its been Macs, but that doesn't mean I'll blindly follow apple or just buy a new model.

I've said this other times, and at the risk of beating a dead horse, I need to find value in spending my money. Does spending over 2k for a new MBP makes sense if I'm only going to get 3 years out of it, or should I get a windows laptop (for a fraction of the cost) that will only last me 3 years?

I WAS, back when Apple Computers, Inc. was all about computers. Ever since they shifted focus to handhelds (and became Apple, Inc.), I've become more and more disenchanted by them.
My parents feel exactly the same way. They'll buy Macs and iPhones but nothing else. My mom particularly dislikes the watch very much and she says the iPad is now a waste of money and time. All things considered that she has a MacBook Air for traveling and a Kindle for reading. She too thinks that Apple with no Jobs and no Woz is no Apple. Woz made Apple fun and although Jobs was per se the "marketing face" of the company, he gave it more appeal compared to what apple has become in the last almost 4 years since Jobs' passing.
But. I am a Fangirl. And I don't own the products just because they are cool, or to portray that I can indeed afford them products. No.
But I do own them because they are worth it. Perhaps a little overpriced yes. But in return I've gotten years and years of its products longevity (iPad, iPod and iPhone need not apply OS wise although I still have the first iPod and works like if I bought it yesterday) and they do a job well done compared to other computers whether is Windows or Linux OS, I personally loved Apples DOS. I am a fan of the brand because when you buy it, you know you're getting what you're paying for compared to a Dell no pun intended.

I laughed when I read this article because there might be some truth in it.

However, I am the one person that's been waiting for the Watch to arrive since I watched Dick Tracy cartoons and Star Trek in the early 80's. And not only that, I now suffer from multiple incurable illnesses such as Leukemia and Lupus and while doing outdoors stuff such as hiking, snowboarding and trekking, I find it much better to own a watch than my regular Polar heart monitor.
Anyways. We all simply know to distinguish what works better for you and for me is apple and has always been. Unless Microsoft makes something that would definitely appeal my needs, I'll continue to stick to apple Fangirl or not.

I admit I'm a fanboy. But I honestly wouldn't be a fanboy if I didn't genuinely feel that Apple makes the best products in the world. I'm a fanboy, but I have zero problems admitting if/when Apple messes up, misses the mark with a product, etc. Just like I'm a fanboy of a couple bands, but I have no problem admitting if one of my bands comes out with a sh***y song/album.

I have to agree, while I stated that I'm not a fanboy now, I really was back during the PPC days. While the move to intel was a great and needed move, it did signal the death of my complete allegiance to Apple. I still bought apple products and I'll still continue provided they serve a need but it did mark a turning of my attitude towards Apple.

No. I own several Apple products and like them quite a bit. Their hardware is always exceptionally well-made. But things like the existence of iTunes and the whole Apple mindset of "we know better than you how you will use Apple products" will keep me from ever being a fanboy.

I'm a fanboy of maximizing the quality of my experiences. As a result, I'm not a fanboy of much.

Aww... AustinIllini, this strikes me as sad because it sounds as if your "quality experiences" are few and far between. I hope you do have products and possessions that do provide you with a quality and enjoyable experience. Granted, "stuff" needs to be viewed in the proper life perspective, but as a tool it should enhance your life in one way or another whether it be utilitarian, entertainment, or some combination of both.

The problem with terms like "Fanboy, Fangirl, Fanboi, etc." is that, as another poster mentioned, they are generally interpreted in a pejorative context and therefore avoided by many. Hence, we have all of the clarifying by posters in this thread.

No, I don't really even like Apple products all that much anymore. I'll always have a desktop Mac just because the ones I've had have seemed to last forever and I love OS X, but that's about where my Apple-love ends. Apple messed up my iPhone 3G with iOS 4. Then the Macbook Pro and iPhone 4S I owned each failed right after Applecare, even though I baby my tech products lol.

I know that I'm just really unlucky :p, but it's turned me off of most of their products anyway.

My post, particularly the part about fanboyism, was intended as sarcasm. Buy what you like.
