Title says it all.

Do you subconsciously breathe in air through your nasal cavity or through your mouth? I have to admit I am a mouth breather. I remember my mother explaining to me, when I was younger, that a doctor said I have excessive tissue in my nasal passage that hinders my breathing. We never had the money to remove the extra tissue.
Now that I'm much older, with a job, I want to start a savings for the procedure. Have any one of you ever had the same procedure performed on yourself? I thought it would be interesting to see how many others are in the same boat as me.

I have a deviated septum, but I try to remind myself to breath through my nose.

I am also subject to Seasonal allergies, so that is sometimes a problem.

Hayfever in the summer for me makes breathing through the nose harder, so I tend to just breathe through the mouth then. But usually I breathe through my nose, unless it's blocked :p

Mouth here. Nothing wrong with the schnozz, just have always mouth breathed.

I have asthma so naturally, yes. I always catch myself breathing through my mouth when I could breath through my nose. It's really hard when I'm cycling because mouth-breathing actually makes it harder (your body produces more mucous due to colder air coming in versus warmer air through nasal passage). I also have allergies ALL YEAR ROUND so that makes it harder.

Don't really see it as a problem, as long as your mouth isn't wide open and slobber coming out.

No, I hate breathing through my mouth and will only do so when I absolutely have to.

I'm an equal opportunity breather. I typically breathe through my nose but it has a tendency to get stuffy so I'll just breathe through my mouth. I do tend to gape and drool when I sleep though. :p

Most of the time, I breathe through my nose. Around this time of year though, I have near constant congestion until about March or so, so I end up breathing through my mouth a lot of the time. It's no big deal though, I rarely notice which orifice I'm using to breathe. ;)

Nose breather here.
A pet peeve of mine though is being in a stall in a public restroom next to a mouth breather.

Odd pet peeve, how did you discover it bothered you?

My restroom peeve was because it was halftime at the Silverdome. Guys were doing their business while in the line. Kinda like a wet Ghostbusters.

Will no one admit to learning how to breath through their ears??

I used to be able to (punctured ear drum). I can also force air out of my tear duct on my left eye. I too have a deviated septum. My nose is visibly crooked.

All that being said, I only mouth breathe when standing behind females. I've been told it's calming.

I tend to breathe through my mouth as my nasal system is a bit short of a disaster lol. It looks fine, and sometimes it works!

But I'm normally with allergies and stuff.

Sometimes if my nose is blocked. I'd prefer to mouth breathe than not at all. But we're out of hayfever season so all's well.
