The app is annoying. They’ve filled it up with video animations (which is nice) but it pauses the music I’m listening to. The videos don’t even have sound, so there’s no need for it to do that (and even if they do have sound, it should still be optional). Swift has API calls to allow music to carry on playing so it’s not an OS restriction.

as opposed to what? 20 cookie cutter candy crush games? lol
It’s okay, I’m sure there is a Fortnite event coming up to tide you over.
As opposed to the far better titles available on the more capable systems it “rivals”? It doesn’t matter much to me as a member of the master race, plus I don’t have lots of time for games anyway. Nintendo fans are worse than Apple fanboys, never seen a company hate their own customers more. If they want to keep playing the same JRPG formula with minor reskins for thousands of hours, good for them. It would be interesting if Nintendo revealed a game to win over people like me who have no interest in this format. Never played fortnite, battle royale is a box opening sim for a half hour until you’re picked off by a pixel in the distance.

This follows the typical Nintendo playbook.

They didn’t like E3, so they created the Nintendo Direct format to bring game news and announcements straight to their customers.

This feels like they’ve had enough of Twitter for reasons obvious to everyone, and want to disrupt that.

A few will follow, some will fail. And we’ll see Nintendo doing their own thing followed by Geoff Keighley launching his own a year or two down the line.

I think this is a good thing. Social media as news dissemination was a mistake. Why would Nintendo want their headlines interspersed in people’s feeds with hypercharged political commentary?

My guess is that they’re probably trying to gradually distance themselves from garbage fire platforms like Twitter.
That seems to be the story. They used their new app for a major announcement — release date of the Zelda movie — and skipped doing a Twitter announcement altogether.

So basically, you’re complaining for the sake of complaining. 🥱
