Are you embarrassed to use the Air in public?

  • Unfortunately, yes, I’ve had this feeling.

There’s been an unfortunate amount of negative chatter about the Air lately, and Pro (Max) users in particular (not all of them, of course) often seem eager to prove it shouldn’t even exist. So here’s a question for Air users: have you ever caught yourself, while using your Air in public, feeling a little embarrassed that someone might see you with this so-called “compromise” phone?
Are you cosplaying a Fox News panelist?

I won't say this wins awards for possibly the "dumbest post" (of today), firstly, because I am not American, and thus, would use terms such as "asinine", or "idiotic", or "imbecilic", rather than "dumbest", and secondly, because even in the category of "dumb" (or "moronic") posts, this doesn't even come close to some of the examples of pure, undiluted idiocy that I have read here over the years I have been a member of the forum.

However, (and there is always a "however"), I would strongly counsel you, advise you, to develop some sense of proportion, and perspective, about such things, - do they define you, or, sketch your sense of self? perhaps you should consider defining yourself by means other than the material - and to try to accept that the opinions - still less, the judgments or scrutiny - of others matter not a whit when what you have purchased is the subject of discussion.

In any case, I have worked in countries where people - including colleagues, both local interlocutors and internationals - were killed (murdered) merely for existing; this means that I find it difficult to develop the necessary - ah, excessive emotion (including embarrassment) - over material matters, not least, because other things matter more: Or, rather, put another way, there are things that I like, (my little Apples, good coffee, fine wine, Japanese knives, seriously good music, to name but a few) but I am supremely indifferent as to how my personal preferences are viewed by others.

At the end of the day (or week, or month, or year), it is nobody's business but yours.

You destroyed this thread with the most beautiful writing I’ve seen today. This is undiluted perfection, thank you for this post.

Think you might need to get off the internet for a few months. Actually I know it.

Everyone is just taking shots at the post, and I agree it's a lot...but they aren't wrong that the weird intense vitriol toward Air users is real and a thing. I mean, I think it's just a thing HERE, but still a thing.

When and why did MacRumors become a never ending navel-gazing therapy session? They’re just phones. It’s just things.
MacRumors is a forum. In forums people discuss things…

Including stuff that that isn't really a thing. So people make it a thing, because they want to discuss…something…in a forum where you…discuss things.

People will make up anything in order to talk.
