I would be embarrassed to pull out a brick aluminum iPhone 17 Pro Max when they have such a beautiful titanium AIR available, yeah I think I would put a case on it and make it 5 pounds and so people couldnt recognize it lol… and oh my God I held the orange one the day before launch and it was literally hideous.

well, I thought I had read strange treads on here before, until this. What did I just read? I guess it's a perfect example of how obsessed humans still are about what other people think. Harsh to say it like this- if if anyone feels embarrassed to carry around and use something that they paid money for, you either need to start getting therapy or time to stand on your own two feet and stop caring about other peoples options are. TO the OP, who hurt you. You know that no one cares about a phone anymore,. it's a tool that everyone has and has for a long time. it's not 2015 anymore

I don’t think that can be used to dismiss the fact that many people here are toxic toward the Air, which can affect some people’s self-esteem. Negative comments can bother normal people and increase their insecurity.

MacRumors is a minuscule and I mean minuscule portion of the population. Every single person that I've showed the Air to out in public has been completely blown away by it and most have said they want it to be their next phone.

Embarrassed? This must be a discussion that takes place at school, among very young people.

I use a 16e, which I am really happy with. I could definitely go out tomorrow and buy a 17 Pro, ProMax or Air without any problems. But they don't appeal to me. I was actually about to buy an Air, but the size is holding me back. It's thin, but it's tall and wide. It's not for me. Other than that, I thought the 16e was one of the iPhones with the best clean design and the most perfect size. Really.

So short answer. No, I wouldn't be embarrassed to use an Air, just as I'm not embarrassed to use a 16e. People who judge people based on what phone they have are sad people whose opinions don't count for me.

The whole point of the Air is that it’s a flex that makes other phones look incredibly porky. I’m not sure why anyone would be ashamed to own it.
Since I live in NYC, I can see how the Air would be very popular with the Tribeca Finance crowd-- having a nice thin device to slip into suit pockets. This is where the Air would excel. Perhaps CEOs and other execs, too, who have multiple connected devices on them and don't need stellar battery life.

Why would anyone be embarrassed to use whatever phone they have first of all but secondly, why would anybody be embarrassed to use the air? I don’t understand the premise.

There is absolutely nothing embarrassing about using any iPhone or any phone for that matter. Buy a phone or iPhone that fits one's needs. No one is bothered about the phone another person is using. Besides the new Air is a very good iPhone.

There’s been an unfortunate amount of negative chatter about the Air lately, and Pro (Max) users in particular (not all of them, of course) often seem eager to prove it shouldn’t even exist. So here’s a question for Air users: have you ever caught yourself, while using your Air in public, feeling a little embarrassed that someone might see you with this so-called “compromise” phone?

I'd be more embarrassed being seen out using any iPhone 16 models.

That's bonkers! You've made your choice, have confidence with it! I love the Pro-Max because I just do (seriously, I take *a lot* of photos), but when I went to the Apple Store and actually got to hold the Air, attach my Mag wallet to the back and and actually see the wallet with 3 cards in was thicker than the Air itself, I was gobsmacked. If this is Apples trajectory, once they start cramming Pro level hardware into a form factor like that, I'm all over it. Too restrictive at the moment.

Could say the same about the Orange PM-so much negative press about it, I love rocking it caseless and showing off that colour-and 3 1/2 weeks in, mines shown none of the wear people report about, and i've used it pretty much the same way i did my 15PM.

Be happy with your choice and enjoy what you have! 👍

What the hell is wrong with people? Why is there even such a stupid post like this? This is a tool to make your life easier and help you. Why would you even be embarrassed because of the phone you use? I would rather be embarrassed to ask such a question.

Apple need to get their marketing campaign on this. Just a montage of people slipping the Air into slim pockets and handbags would be more than enough.

No need to be in Tribeca - basically everyone working with suits every day (like me) enjoys the Air - the weight difference in pockets is astounding.

Excellent device with more-than-excellent battery life, incredible bezel-less screen and all else you need in a thin enclosure - only those who don't have it bash it.

It’s a bit bold to say “only those who don't have it bash it”.

I like the idea behind the Air, but I won't have one because its overall size is too big.

I really don't get the "worse phone" arguments. For a lot of people, thinner is better for a mobile device. It's as simple as that. If they pay a premium for that, then fair enough; they're just paying for the value they see in it. I think it's a bit insane for anyone to get their nose out of joint over it. Super, super weird...

EDIT: But then again, I remember people got snarky about the 13 Mini. But I had that phone and it was awesome. Why? Size alone. I could do everything with one hand, which is perfect 99% of the time. I didn't have to pay less for it, because it did the thing I wanted it to do... it's really, super simple... Plus, with people actually switching to so-called "dumb phones" now, it's very obviously just a question of what you value. People are different, thank fruckenzing <god_deity_force_feeling_woo-woo>...
