This is just a phone. At least to us old timers.

Hello, old timer, I’m 57.

Nope. I haven’t been excited for years! After buying my 11 pro I stopped being excited about the new iPhones, as I thought mine was pretty great! Also I didn’t like the shape of the 12 and 13 and hoped for something new this year, but it’ll just look the same again. I have to upgrade now, as my phone is a bit broken, but will take a cheap 13 pro.

For me, AOD was a gamechanger on my Apple Watch, so it’s really the only feature I’m looking forward to seeing on iPhone. Still, I’ll stick to my 13 Pro for 2 more years…

I would say I am more interested than excited. Interested in seeing if it’s worth me upgrading or not. I’m still on my 12PM and have 0 regrets not upgrading to the 13 series last year. Best case scenario I upgrade this year, worst case scenario I replace my battery and wait for next year. So again, just waiting to see what the 14 has to offer.

Might be the first year I skip a YoY upgrade. I'm on a 13 Mini....and don't really want to carry around a bigger phone. The camera on the mini is great, I'm sure this year's will be a nice upgrade.

Only thing that may tempt me a little is if they launch with green, I was sad I missed out on it by upgrading at launch...

Yes. Ready for 14PM. Bye bye notch
I somehow find the pill + circle combo to be more annoying than the notch for some reason.... Maybe I just have to see the final product in person... but from the images so far I find it weirder and more intrusive.... Or perhaps I've just gotten so used to the notch who knows.

I have an iPhone SE 2022, and I'm indeed a bit underwhelmed. I thought I'd get a super phone that does not force me to set up a neutral face whenever I want to use it, although in old fashioned housing. It's ok, but somehow it feels idk somehow just not so great. I've owned iPhone 3,4,7,XR I think. XR was best, looking back. Maybe the SE is just a tad small, I keep mistyping all the time. As I havent experienced photography with iPhone Pro (I thought with the A15 and Halide I'd be just as fine..) I wonder if I might enjoy an upgrade to any iPhone Pro (14 or an older one they keep in the line).

Still not sure if I want to go back to Face ID though...

I’m excited to see and feel it in my hands but considering I have a 13 Pro I don’t see a reason to upgrade. Unless I fall in love with the pill shaped notch.

Yeah. My 11 Pro's battery has got real **** in the last few months so I'm going to be happy to have a new phone. Be nice to have the updated design too... mmm flat edges.

Possibly. I've got a Google Pixel 5 (had a 3 before that and a string of iPhones finishing with the 7). I want a better camera and a phone similar in size. I feel like Google have dropped the ball a bit with the P6 (and the 7 unlikely to be much different) + too big. Some technical lackluster issues. I won't touch Samsung. I've enjoyed pure Android on the Pixels.

The size, camera, AOD (use it as a nightstand) and robust in-car use are very important to me. When I switched away, I felt like I had finally broken free of the walled garden. I've still got my iPhone 7 and have played. The lack of customisation of the home screen and inability to change to Google Assistant (sorry, but Siri sucks) by default is a bit annoying. But, I'm looking back to the iPhone 14 Pro. Can I keep the Pixel 5 for another 12 months? Probably, it's a great phone. But I feel that despite the astonishingly good Google Camera processing, the lens is starting to show its age. The level of tracking is a bit annoying, too but hey, I'm the product and I knew that.

Do I buy the iPhone 14 Pro, sell in a year and get the 15 Pro with USB-C in a year, see what Google does with the Pixel 8... The resale value of the iPhone 13 Pro right now isn't horrific, so the 14 should be good in a year too, particularly for those not wanting to ditch Lightning.

Will I miss the 'freedom' of Android at the expense of size + camera array?

We'll see. It's got to be good.

They are just phones!

Just two weeks for the announcement. Are you excited for this years iPhone?

I gotta say I’m more excited for this year than last year, although still not much. I mean, what really spikes my interest is the new 14 Max model for improved battery life for under 1000€ I hope, the new design (just to see some visual changes) and maybe AOD (but this feature I wouldn’t even use).

Not much else, I’d say. Would be cool to see a big camera upgrade, but we don’t see that from year to year. I have an iPhone 12 and don’t see much reason to upgrade. 120Hz is cool but on an iPad; not as much on a phone, where iPhone is already SUPER smooth.
Not excited, but curious. I’m still rocking an iPhone XR with an Apple battery case that I just bought two months ago. Four years is both a long and a short time in tech to worry about spending another $999 on a phone. I don’t expect revolution, so I’m not going to be disappointed like some people around here. Looking forward to what apple comes up with for 2022.

Already have a 13 so not excited at all. See very little new if anything. I wonder if people posting about no notch as an incentive to buy we're also the ones claiming the notch didn't bother them. 😁
I've always disliked the notch and never got used to it but I'm not giving Apple any more money.

Not excited. If it was completely full screen (ie no pinhole) then I would be but for me the pinhole/capsule thing looks worse than the notch. It would be okay if they made use of the extra space above/between it but it looks like the won't, so what's the point?

I think this is possibly the least exciting year for iPhone ever, especially with how few upgrades the non-pro 14 is getting

This really is a year to hold onto whatever 13 model you have, but if you have a 12 or earlier iPhone its probably worth upgrading. The 15 with USB-C is the one I think most people will/should upgrade to.
