I came from a 6S. I was always impressed with my 6S' screen. I don't perceive the X's screen to be much of an upgrade. FWIW, the rest of the phone is a HUGE upgrade.

Not at all floored but thought the screen was nice. I had much higher expectations I guess going into it thinking it was going to be a big difference from the LCD panels Apple is shipping with its phones. Comparing to my 7 Plus, I saw very little difference.

Wait three days and go back to the lcd display. Lets see. I wasnt floored at first either until last night when I looked at my friends iPhone 7. I was like wow! its a big difference. The color pops more even when I compared to my other friends 8+.

if I didn't know it was OLED, I can't tell a difference or "floored' by any means. I like no better or less than my previous iPhones

Agreed. Use the X as your main device and they try going back to the 8. The differences will certainly stand out.

In my case, i can clearly see the resolution difference between my iPhone 6 plus and iPhone X. Depending on the content iPhone X displays a bit sharper in my opinion.
Other than that still trying to get used to the fact that there is no menu button any more.
Plus still a bit angry with the preorder system. Makes me look at the device in a negative way

Preorder is always hell.

I wouldn’t let that play into your opinion and experience with the device itself

I’m impressed with the screen, but I wasn’t expecting magic. Apple’s LCDs were excellent screens, so a huge, mind blowing improvement over an already awesome screen just wasn’t going to happen. And Apple calibrates their screens for accurate colors, so in theory the colors shouldn’t “pop” any more or be more saturated if they’re both calibrated to the same standard. That said, the vastly improved contrast is noticeable to me, especially when there are both light and dark areas in an image or video. And the blacks... how can you miss those? In dim lighting, any black on the screen is just pitch black, as if the screen was completely off, unlike the gray, lit up blacks of LCD iPhones.

i think what disappoints me with the colors is that we now know for sure that apple will never really make colors pop since they didnt do it with the intro of oled. the x color saturation is virtually identical to my 8, and my 6 was substantially more saturated than my 8, which is a bummer. not saying i want cartoonish colors, but 10-15% more color pop would be really nice without looking dumb imo.

Stop that. There is no point and there is nothing you can do about it. There are like millions of people hammering Apples and telcos servers all at once.

Don't get me wrong there are slight differences but not worth $1,200 in my book. Comparing phones to others sight unseen is subjective anyway as we all know its a panel lottery when it comes to Apple products. I am not knocking it I am just stating this upgrade was unimpressive and lacked the wow factor I was expecting.

For real

Took me two hours to get past stuck activation and to be able to turn True Tone off

Doesn’t sway how I feel or don’t feel about X

It was preorder and activation hell

they should have anticipated the traffic beforehand and should have taken the necessary precautions.

How was the brightness outside in the sun? Was it brighter than the 7/8?

Yes it is bright enough for outdoor usage. I’m in CA and with it almost always being sunny I was worried with the reports saying it wouldn’t be as bright as Samsung phones, etc, etc. but I can look at it in direct sunlight and see everything just fine. I can’t say it’s brighter or darker than my 7 Plus because I already wiped it, but just for daily usage in sunlight it will do just fine.
