Hey,

I have iPhone SE. Been using it ever since it came out.
But this iPhone 12.... I feel myself leaning toward the new stuff (again)

so quick question yall.
Are you getting iPhone 12? Why???

Maybe the 5,4, it depends on weight and price.

Why?
Because I had the 11Pro and I liked the "all screen" design, not the notch but I can live with it. Also I liked OLED and the night mode on the camera.

Now I have the SE 2020, is a great phone, but if I can have the night mode function and OLED on a smaller body, with a reasonable price, I´ll go for it.

I haven’t upgraded since buying my 6S in 2015. I try to only upgrade once every 4/5 years (I had an iPhone 4 before that). My 6S is on its knees now and so my time has come! iPhone 12 Pro here I come.

Will be getting the pro max as annual upgrade

Sad no 120hz but looking forward to

Even bigger screen
New design
Better zoom
Better stills
Better night mode
More ram- (it’s needed
LIDAR- and if it improves portrait. No use for VR though

5G? Nah...will have it but not many places has it here only in city centre where I don’t go

Be interesting what else is added to make people upgrade

Looking for a suitable justification to use at home? ;)

Not me. Since these new iPhone releases show only a small improvement, I finally came to the conclusion that holding off a few years was a smart way of going. Saving lots of money. I use the phone primarily as a phone and texting. The camera today on my iPhone X is way good enough, so why bother going “I have to upgrade route” when there’s really no need to.

I’m ready to upgrade providing I can get a new 12 that has decent connectivity. Last time I tried to update in 2018, I tried two different Pro phones, 6 months apart and they were both terrible - calls, LTE, WiFi and even Bluetooth connections were super slow and unreliable.

Well, since I’ve been playing musical phones the last 6 weeks or so, I’m not sure I’m gonna be ready for change, but my original plan when selling my 11 and getting the SE2 was to hold me over til fall and get the 5.4, which I then panicked over possibly being TOO small, but now I’m thinking it may wind up being just right with the full screen. I think for me it’ll depend if I can use the OLED without headaches.

I also wouldn’t rule out the 6.1 if it winds up being lighter and a little smaller overall than the 11, but I’m not counting on that.

So, it’s possible I’ll look at a 5.4, but it’s possible I’ll stick with my SE2.

I have an iPhone 7 Plus and while I could be content with keeping it 2-3 more years, I will probably be upgrading to the 12 Pro Max this year for some of the following:
  • New Toy! My smartphone is the most influential piece of tech on my life. Why not spend a bit to reward oneself for all the hard work throughout the year? I worked over 300 hours of overtime last year so dammit I deserve it! ;)
  • Better Camera. As I get older I tend to want to have a better camera so that I can always look back and cherish the moments I’ve had with family / friends.
  • Better Modem. The GSM version of the 7 Plus uses a sh*tty Intel modem that drops calls. Its pretty annoying having to routinely hang up / call back my family to reset the connection. Hoping the Qualcomm X60 modem in the iPhone 12 lineup fixes this.
  • Flat Screen. I can’t event tell you how many screen protectors (even ones that came with an installation frame) I’ve tried to install which had the dreaded “bubbles on the sides” because the 7 Plus screen curves the edges for no real functional reason. Eventually I just gave up and have gone without a screen protector, while getting micro-scratches to the oleophobic coating *sigh*
  • Better Screen. OLED screens are easier on my eyes at night time with dark mode having true blacks. Plus the iPhone 11 Pro series has a brightness of up to 800 nits (vs 650 for the 7 Plus) for even easier outdoor viewing.
  • AppleCare Plus. I want to get a top of the line phone and keep it long term. AppleCare Plus used to be only for only a 2-year period but now with new phones you have the option to pay monthly and keep it indefinitely.
  • Better Battery. While the 7 Plus is no slouch, the 11 Pro Max sets the bar for battery longevity. Never having to worry about my phone dying or taking a charger with me will allow me one less thing to remember. Not to mention that as the battery degraded over time the 11 Pro Max (and 12 Pro Max) will still be going strong for years to come.
  • 5G capability. While LTE is more than enough speed wise, I’m hoping that 600mhtz 5G deployment (with its longer range or saturation) will allow for greater signal strength over the coming years while at my work.
  • My girlfriend would like both of us to get the new iPhones together. She’s been holding onto an iPhone 6 Plus (!!!) and has been waiting a long time to upgrade. She’s cute and into the shared experience sort of stuff so I look forward to making her smile :)

More than likely I’ll upgrade but I really hope the battery sizes that were leaked are wrong. A smaller battery with 5G will not be good. It doesn’t matter if the new SOC will be more battery efficient the addition of 5G will decrease battery life.

Not getting another iPhone until it has a high refresh display. If this year’s iPhone has one, I’ll upgrade.

Could've sworn I already read a post asking this....

I am in the IUP so I upgrade yearly.

5G
Better modem, I hope
Bigger screen
Smaller notch
Better camera

Yes, mostly because my XS Max has had issues for awhile, not bad enough to want to mess with sending it in for repair/replacement, but annoying nonetheless. The camera on my partner’s 11 Pro Max is so much better too so I’m looking forward to an even better one on the 12. I do not upgrade yearly like I used to, so hoping the 12 is a keeper.

looking forward to getting the iPhone 12 in Blue!
Love all the incremental upgrades. I have had every iPhone since the first one!

As just written in a similar topic, I could consider to upgrade my XS SG 64 gb to a new model with 128/256 gb. Maybe the "famous" 12 5.4", we will see.

If the battery is great AND it has in-screen touch ID then yes. If not I'll keep my SE 2016.
As much is i would love in screen touch id on the iphone 12 series, the chances are slim to none this year. Good chance for the iphone 13 though, and the next ipad air may also have it later this year.

No, I just got an 11 so will be using that for a few years. Reason I went with the 11 is because 5g isn't worth it right now, I would rather wait for the hardware and actual 5g service to mature.

I will probably upgrade from my 6s+ this fall. Not sure if it will be to an SE or a 12 pro. It depends on what the new pro brings to the table. I do not plan to upgrade until the phone has been out for a while to see what bugs develop.
