What about contacts?

If you have a Mac and have your Contacts in your Address Book then you're fine, you can sync them back to the iPhone.

If you have a Mac and DON'T have your Contacts in your Address Book, you should be able to sync your iPhone and copy the Contacts into the Address Book.

I had to do it last week because I had accidentally lost all my numbers in the Address Book.

Seriously. Would somebody take 30 seconds to answer the question posed near the top?

HOW DO YOU DO A CLEAN INSTALL?

Jesus, I've seen it asked at least 6-7 times with no answer. I want to know and obviously so do others.

I'm the one who asked the question and I agree. everyone is saying what they did but nobody will answer how they did it.
.bb.

What about saved games in Apps? Are they backed-up on iTunes or something? Or will you lose that too if you do a Clean Install?

ok wait, so i should install 3.0 onto my phone when it comes out tm. then do a restore and then install 3.0 again, but set it up as new phone. how do i then get my contacts back onto the phone? wont set up as new phone erase it all and not let me get it back

You'll just sync your contacts. As long as they're in your address book on your mac.

EDIT:

I have the 3.0GM. I tried to restore and got this "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "BlahBlah's iPhone". The requested resource was not found."

WTF?

Hey...

This may sound really dumb, but what is the difference between an 'Upgrade' and a 'Clean Install', and what are the advantages and dis-advantages of each?

Thanks,
Michael.

So if I am on a PC, how can I get my contacts and notes back onto my phone IF I do a clean install of OS 3.0?????

^Get a mac? Just kidding. I wish I could help you.

I'm sure one of these more knowledgeable technophiles will answer.

When you sync your iPhone for the first time after clean install, go to "Info" tab on the iTunes. You will be able to choose how to sync your contacts, calendar, etc. Then select "Sync" on bottom right and everything should transfer.

i need step by step on how to do clean install and get my contacts back after doing set up as new phone on PC.

You won't be able to do it until OS 3.0 is available on iTunes.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

Seriously people clean install or not, this has NO effect on your iPhone WHAT SO EVER!

I wanna know this as well. I was just going to upgrade. Should I clean install or what?

if i set up as new phone what do i do about all my aps? and will i just upload contacts from adress book?

I'm confused! Why would anyone do a clean install when they would lose all saved information and data from apps?
