Thinking might not be a bad idea since the material will look beat up and worn from past experiences with the same material

kinda liking the dbrand faux leather. Hmm

A fellow MR member directed me to dbrand skins. I went with this color combo for my White MKB 165CFC43-3FDE-42CA-9C98-8413C9980D55.png

Are you guys gonna wrap the interior too like the palm rest and area above or more just exterior?

Just exterior for me. I also have a nifty orange Mini Cooper decal (I drive a Mini) I want to apply after I apply the sky blue skin on the exterior. Can’t wait to get my “shipped” email. I had to ask ESR on Amazon if the ipad would still fit their case with a decal wrapped border. Hope they answer this soon because I should have ordered this case BEFORE the ipad arrived.

I'll try the palm rests and see if I like it. I have one coming for my 11 inch, just got open box on eBay. I've had one for my 12.9 for a long time and bought my skin before they had actually starting making them for the MK-- so I bought the Smart Keyboard folio skins and put them on there. They worked well, but they didn't have anything for the inside. So I'm curious to try out the interior wrap part on the 11 inch.

I have had my 2020 Magic Keyboard for over a year with no wear problems. I think the stories of the Magic Keyboard getting rips and other heavy wear are extreme cases and not representative of the whole.

I would caution against using heated decals on the Magic Keyboard. You may find it hard to remove without causing damage.

Food for thought.

heres one site that has good ones.

never used them actually but heard good things
I can't believe that you guys buying a 20-30 USD protective cover for the 350 USD keyboard for the 1000 USD iPad.

Americans must be unfathomably wealthy.

heh, well my base 11" M1 iPad Pro will be $624 (after initial Costco discount sale of $50 off, $100 off 500+ coupon, and 5% promo cash back, maybe even deeper if I can stack coupons which I don't think will be honored), before tax.

I just traded my 2017 12.9 in for $355 to Apple that I've had for 4 years, that still worked fine and didnt have touch disease but did have backlight spotlighting which was meh, which to me is as good as cash for a later Apple purchase to lessen the blow

and I got a $99 magic keyboard that was 'refurb' from Best Buy, but really just an open box return that's in like new condition, and had $74 in gift cards so like $30 something out of pocket.

This wrap was $20 (had to add iPhone camera decals for myself and my gf, to make it free shipping which I'm almost equally pumped about tbh since camera cutout is the only thing visible on my iPhone after having a case on it... so like $27)

Then there's the fact that Apple products are exorbitantly priced beyond Apple tax everywhere but USA.

But sure, filthy rich, if you say so. I'll take that :D

--

I'm in for an exterior black leather dbrand for my MKB! Going to keep interior stock I dont mind if it wears, but I want to hold onto the keyboard and it feel nicer than a Smart Cover I had years ago.

Decal girl seems like an equally good option tooo, and a bonus if you want interior wrap since its included in the package and similarly priced after that pop up coupon. Still, none of the first few pages of designs really appealed to me. Frankly, most of the dbrand ones didnt either... until I saw the textured leather.

my 2017 keyboard actually didnt turn out too bad over the years, but still never liked the feel all that much while transporting of the front.

Edit- then again felt material was the underside resting on the table for this one. so that's not really a fair comparison. especially since my 12.9 rarely left my apartment

It’s not wealth…. But a $350 keyboard case had better hold up on its own. I don’t want to put another case on my case which is why I went with a skin. I’m confident the keyboard case will last but putting a skin on it will help the white not get as dirty without.

I thought you were saving for a 14" MBP.

Nah, I usually keep a microfiber cloth over the keyboard when closed and use light cleaning wipe like Zeiss to clean the keyboard when needed.

I understand why people use iPad screen protectors but i hate them.

iPhones, yes. Open face Nintendo switch always flopping about and being a plastic screen that scratches just looking at it twice, yes.

ever since putting screen protector on an iPad around the first or second one, I never applied it again. I take my chances. Don’t like the cutout for faceID aesthetic either.

But Sweet white MKB and good thought on the cloth. I hope your keyboard can stay clean ish, being white

Oh you remember me, @Apple_Robert ! (you poor soul - LOL :p). I was waiting for the 14" inch but ever since I've picked my art back up I realize what a friggin' cool tool the iPad is. I thought to give an iPad a shot since I've never owned one before. I'm not 100% sold yet but each day I get closer.

My good friend sent me the IPP screen protectors as a gift. Wanted to convey my appreciation by installing it and was my first time using one on an iPad (I’ve owned since they were first released). I agree with you - not a fan of the FaceID cutout aesthetic and ja it’s coming off in a couple of days.

Indeed I do remember Miss Bea :D That is a good point about drawing and the iPad. I am thinking of doing the same. I haven't drawn in years and it was mostly cartoon scenes. It would be nice to get into landscapes and people. Being the artsy type person that I am, I need to give the Apple Pencil another go on my 11" iPad Pro. I enjoy writing much more than drawing although I do love going to the High Museum of art and looking at French Impressionism. :)

don't know / think I'm gonna get gen 2 pencil for my 2021 iPad, since I rarely used mine with my 2017 iPP and still rarely use it with my mini 5, but virtually only thing I've ever wrapped (until these iPhone cameras, and Magic keyboard ofc) was gen 1 pencil and loved it instantly

I dont think it was dbrand but I cant recall because it was so long ago, and not sure how gen 2 ergonomics of flat side and attaching to iPad would hold up with a wrap, but highly recommended if it is feasible! Not just the aesthetic but added grip

I never thought about putting some kind of grip on my pencil. It makes sense, though. The first gen I had trouble holding for long periods of time. The second gen design has solved that for me.

I’ve had white keyboards for years and they are actually easier to keep clean looking than the black ones which show with shiny wear on the keys.
