im not interested in using LTE as I barely make calls on my phone so I’m thinking of going gps only. For those who opted for the basic sport model are you happy with the choice?

I barely make calls on my phone
It's not just for making calls, it will let you text, stream music, and access all of your other apps without your phone close.

it's more a matter of do you want to not have to carry your phone (or be in range of wi-fi) all the time.

I opted for the non-LTE version, as i typically always have my phone on me.
or there's wifi at work.

Just a reminder, the LTE version has double the storage of the base Series 3; 16 GB vs 8 GB and also the LTE version has a ceramic back vs a composite back.

Dave

The ceramic back is the one difference that bugs me a bit as it’s an obvious attempt at an up sell. The storage is a non issue for me as I will have my music on my phone.

Yes I always carry my phone but I can’t always check it at work. Hence the watch is a good option for notifications

the only thing LTE gets you (besides more storage as dave pointed out) is the ability to work away from your phone or known wi-fi networks.
I'm pretty sure the ceramic back has to do with radio interference.
and you also get the red dot on the crown, and the "explorer" watch face.

The watch works the same no matter which connection it's on. The only difference is how it connects in the background. It will just choose the one with the lowest power requirements that's available.
much the same way that your phone switches from Cell to Wi-FI without your noticing.

from low to high.....
*Bluetooth to phone
with the phone using either it's wifi or Cell to connect
*wifi from watch
it can only join wifi with a password, it gets these from your logins on the phone, if there's a log-in page (like a hotel), it can't join
*LTE
The watch connects to your cell carrier

for example....
if you leave your phone at your desk and go to the other side of the office (assuming office is bigger than bluetooth)
your watch connects to office wifi and notifications come in

forget your phone at home
non-LTE - you get your notifications when you get to the office
LTE - you get notifications as you drive to work

I’m not willing to pay for an extra line of data just so I can leave my $700-$1000 phone at home.

The non Lte model is great! Well... except for the battery life

What do you mean?
i have the non-LTE version
i'm typically at 75% at the end of day one and 30% at the end of day two without taking it off while i sleep.

I’ve been happy with my non LTE watch. For me, it wasn’t worth the extra money and then tack on the data fees which people are just finding out it’s not just $10/ mo. I can’t think (for me) of many instances where I wouldn’t have my phone nearby.

I'm not ready for LTE yet, but I do think it's going to grow more so over the years when Apple and the carriers can work together more cohesively. And if they can find an affordable price point That stays consistent, I think LTE will become more adopted overtime. The uses for LTE there, more just need to be able to find with those uses are for.

I've never had anything close to that battery life even on days I don't work out. Thats amazing.

I’m happy with my non-LTE watch. However I wished I would have bought the LTE Nike version. I like the sport loop band I bought extra so much better than the regular sport band and should have just got the Nike LTE version in the first place. With the band purchase I think the cost difference is only an extra $20.

I bought my wife an Apple Watch for Christmas. Got the LTE version with a sport loop band. LTE is there if she decides to activate it.

Here’s an example. Yesterday I had my truck in the shop. I was driving my wife’s car with my iPhone in my inside jacket pocket. The shop called to say my truck was ready. I couldn’t get to my iPhone but, was able to take the call on my watch.

from other comments on this board, my battery life is "normal"

Try unpairing and re-pairing, and restore from backup
If it's still weird, try repairing but no restore.

i've had my watch (s0 at the time) get weird a couple times, and the battery only lasted a couple hours
but doing that fixed it

I’ve bought the LTE model but at the moment my carrier doesn’t support LTE. I’m hopping they will support it in the near future. So I’m essentially going to be using it as a non LTE model until it’s supported.

I start my day roughly around 7:30-8 am and ends around 11pm. If I work out during the day I'm already getting low battery notification by the end of the day. This is typical for me through every apple watch update paired with the iphone 6/7 plus and iphone x.

I'll double check again. I've never heard of an apple watch going for more than a day tbh.

I just charged my Apple Watch after 2 days and 20% left. Standard for me.
