I would rate it a 6. I returned mine and bought the 24inch 2.8Ghz. I had some issues with the 20inch spontaneously turning off. Also the other thing was the screen isn't as crisp as the the 24 inch. I probably just got a bum one.

I just got one, its my first Apple computer ever. And so far, I'd rate it about an 8.5

Some of that comes from just trying to figure out how to do some things as I'm not used to the Mac OS. Also, sometimes Safari just freezes on me. Not sure if its the program or my internet connection.

Sadly, I can't give it much more then a 3 at the moment. Spontaneous hard system crashes/ video issues that require a button holding reset are happening far too often. In truth, if it had only happened once since I got it last month- it'd be too often, but it's happened about a half dozen times now. I've been forced to pretend it's the late 90's and 'panic save' every 10 minutes again.

When it works, it's a great little machine for the price. Decent picture (although I hate the glare factor) and much faster then I'm used to.

Sad that my old MDD G4 is far more reliable.

Wow, I'm surprised by reports of problems. My 20" 2.0 Ghz has been 100% problem-free.

Coming from a Compaq Celeron computer that sounded like a jet engine, the iMac is nearly silent. OSX is just a dream, as I've been running Windows XP for five long years, and before that I ran Mac OS 9.

I'd rate my new 20" aluminum iMac as a 9, only because there's not such thing as a ten!

I think perhaps the negative leaning responses above have to do with this being a web site that folks go to when they have problems.

I have no complaints about our 20" (had it about a week). It is vastly faster that what we had (400Mhz G3) and is a pleasure to work with. My wife teaches and I have a daughter in high school, they both use it extensively with web connections to school material such as homework, grading programs, email, etc. They both love the speed that they now have on connecting to the school and reference web sites. We have no problem with glare on the glass front either. I like the fact that the surface of the monitor is protected from pointing fingers. All our old peripherals were no problem, plug and play with no requirement for new drivers or any adjustments or tweaking. Tiger is great, looking forward to upgrading to Leopard when it is released.

We can even watch movie trailers! Not news to most, but a big improvement for us.

Mine has been flawless during 4 weeks of heavy use. I have done a lot of video editing and rendering on huge files and have converted over 200 CD's to apple lossless. No crashes or hangups at all.

Yeah, I llike mine too. Bought it the week they came out. I would say a 9. Over the last few weeks there has been alot of very negative almost vicious comments about the new iMac, new anything and everything. If you watch names you find it is the same ones over and over again. If you have ever owned a mac- really what is there to go back too?

Would probably be a 8.5 because of the glossy display. Anyway I'm buying an external monitor very soon so it will become a 9 for sure :)

    There is one more thing...

in order to maintain happiness you will need to make sure - never get near any previous generation of iMac 20" or 24".

My second white iMac 20" arrived today. I paid full price for it and I am very, very happy! When I get near a new one it makes me even more happier.
