I'm the same in terms of LR. I'd really like to see Denoise in the mobile edition.

One note on this - I don't use LR's Denoise on my 16GB i7 Surface Pro 7 because it takes too long to process. I do that only on my desktop. Don't know how it would be on my M4 13" iPad Pro. So, it's not really a case of yeah, well my laptop does ...

I use my iPad Air M3 13" for most everything. We have a Mac Mini M1 but I hardly use it. When I have an itch to play Sims 4 or just see something on a larger 32 inch curved display, I use the Mac.

I am not a content creator or use my computer for work.

Awesome! I’m glad to hear it’s working out really well for you! 👍🏻. If you run into anything you have questions about, feel free to ask, I’ve been using the iPad as my primary computer for the past 5 years, and I am also running the iPadOS 26 beta. I also write a SubStack for software reviews and resources primarily focused on the iPad, so feel free to check it out if that would be helpful as well (link in my bio page here). 👍🏻
Just read and commented on your substack post on iPadOS 26, thanks for sharing!

With preview app in iPad, I can immediately do one thing that I could not do on Mac. That is, I can do handwriting directly on pdf file using preview now. With Mac alone, there is no way to do that unless you connect an additional iPad or wacom tablet (extra cost)
you can write on a pdf by connecting an ipad to mac?? please teach me how to do this

I've been a bit back and forth on it. One of the very few things I was using it for was using iPhone Mirroring and writing journal entries like that with a keyboard. I guess I don’t really need that anymore as the Journal is now a native app on the iPad.

For work, the iPad works perfectly. For my personal life, also works just fine. I was using the MacBook for hobby development and graphic design work, but having a baby now and having less time and energy throughout the day, I have to put those hobbies aside indefinitely. So, I just don’t really need the Mac anymore. Plus, I’m pretty upset that Launchpad is gone (I spent a very long time perfecting how I wanted that set up!), maybe they'll bring it back, who knows.

I'm very likely to sell the Mac, but I might just keep it in storage. I'll never know when I’ll need it again.

can you take great pictures with an ipad ?
I can with my iPad Pro. You tell me which one is my M1 iPad Pro and which one is my iPhone 13PM.

It's too little, too late for me. I sold my iPad Pro last year and don't see myself picking one up any time soon. There's just not enough effort put in on Apple's part to make it a capable enough device for me, especially considering the steep price.

Opera on iPad is different from Opera on the Mac. On the iPad, all browsers have to use the WebKit rendering engine as Safari, including Opera. On Mac, the Opera browser uses the Blink rendering engine (as does Chrome).

I'm aware. It's a significant part of why I'm switching away from my iPad as my primary computer. Apple's greed blinds them and prevents them from making truly spectacular products.

  • Connect your iPad to your Mac using Wi-Fi.
  • On your Mac, open any PDF file and choose the windowing option “Move to iPad.”
  • The PDF file will appear on your iPad screen.
  • Use your Apple Pencil to annotate or interact with the PDF

or you can move pdf file to file app of ipad, and use apple pencil. then move back the annotated pdf file to mac

Thank you. I did know about this sadly, I thought you meant using the iPad like a Wacom tablet (as a mouse , sort of) . I wished it had that sort of integration

I've actually found Opera to be more reliable on the iPad, surprisingly. I expected the opposite to be true, but here we are.

it's hard to judge with compression like this, do you have the originals? both look like crap to me , but i've stopped using the stock camera for a while since the 12 , the oversharpenning is crazy
They are shot in raw and the originals will not upload to this forum. Their size is also restrictive. The photos are fine which is all I wanted to show. The iPad Pro takes as good of photos as the iPhone does. If they are not good enough for you, that is fine by me. It works for me.

No. Fantastic progress made with OS26 but we're still a long distance away from it being a computer replacement in my home studio environment.

Well depends of course on File size but on an M1 MPB about 30-150 seconds ish… So denoise is fast with Topaz. LR is slightly slower but easily manageable on an M1 Pro. M4 would be plenty of speed. Also Gigapixel works fine on an M1Pro.

secondary, maybe. book reader yes, light web browsing yes. code development. no

computer (have both desktop and laptop) iPad, iPhone make up a tool box each with primary and secondary usages

I am resistant to placing my information on a single device so regardless of apple's or other 's intentions I will continue with compartmentalization
