Dissapointed?

I am not dissapoitned at Apples Internal Stuff. Their hard drives are quick enough. Although. I just bought an ATA-133 Card at MWSF, I cant tell the speed difference. I do have 4 hard-drives, and not much has changed. As for the RAM...They should go DDR, but SD is pretty damn quick. Especially with 1.5 GB of it. My G4 can handle 2GB of SDRam, and it screams. I know some P4s that got their DDR Ram, and they suck an @ss. If Apple goes DDR, thats great. If they dont, oh well.

how good would they be?!!

.... just how good would the g4's be if all the things that you have a problem with were equal to a pc? is it safe to say that it would be worth every penny? or would there be something else to complain about? ... i am not trying to be a smartass because most of you know more about macs than i do--- i just recently purchase a g4 867 and it runs so much faster, better, cleaner and is more fun to operate.... etc... i could go on and on. I really want to know -- any ideas, opinions, input.. whatever-- how good can they be and better yet .. why aren't they-- i am sure someone has a better answer than apples desire to just drive us all insane-
signed--- just a confuse forum browser trying to learn as much as possible about macs!!! did i say i love my new computer?!!!!:) :D

unix with a human friendly gui....

DUDES!!!! I know! I know! What about Gnome? Gnome can be compiled as the front end to most Unixes and Linuxes. Solaris 9 is shipping with it default. Fellas, gnome is sexy, smart and oh so user friendly, and she's free and opensourced. let the nerd hippie revolution roll!
:)

tadster out.

Even David Coursey made note of Apple's use of cheap hardware. On his test run on a Mac, his iBook's modem just wouldn't work well. He blamed it on a cheap internal modem. Other than that, however, he seemed to like the iBook. I've got a feeling we'll hear more about his travels with an iBook shortly.

Apple does need to start using hardware that is a little better. Imagine running a new dual 1GHz G4 with 333MHz DDR memory. Ooooh.... aaaaaah. Then, plop in a better hard drive controller (and I CAN notice the difference between 66 and 133; in my opinion, it is quite significant), followed up by more choice in video cards. The only irk for Apple, is that their margins MUST come down. Unless, of course, we continue to purchase a computer for $4,000, that could be priced at $2,500.
