Although I'm not that keen on the eSIM, maybe will get a cellular version when the discount comes around, but for now the Mini 6 does a great job.

I’ve had my mini 6 since May 2023, so I’m good with keeping mine until the mini 8 launches. I have 0 issues with my mini 6 and am not looking to upgrade to the mini 7.

I got a mini 6 shortly after launch in 2021 but I recently had it replaced on AppleCare after some hand sanitizer in my bag exploded (been paying monthly for 3 years but glad I had it!). So now I have a 1 month old mint condition mini 6 with fresh battery so I really shouldn’t upgrade, but I’m still tempted for the 8gb RAM, 128gb storage and Apple Intelligence features…

It’s not my main iPad though so not sure it’s worth it, feel like I’m good to go with my ‘new’ mini 6 but I tend to cave in the end with these things!

Purchasing one incentives Apple to get even more incremental with each new gen.

Not purchasing puts the product line's existence at risk and extends upgrade cycles should it stick around...

not purchasing requires no money so seems more chill net.

I can't think of any useful feature of it.

There is very useful features… writing tools with ChatGPT… create images everywhere, remove things from photos and create memories, priority notifications and more (also new things are coming in wwdc25 probably) but finaly I might not buy the mini a17 pro but air m2

Probably not upgrading. I'm happy Apple is upgrading the Mini and continuing to support it. However I'm satisfied with my Mini 6, so unless there's some unexpected feature of the new model, I'll stick with what I have for now.

I know I said I was not upgrading, I gave it some thought, and was thinking of trading my mini 6 to Best Buy for $350 and upgrade to the mini 7, and hold onto it for 3 years or more. I’ll wait a few more weeks before deciding. I’m not in any rush at the moment.

This seems like a no brainer to upgrade.

Interesting. I go to the Best Buy website and look at the pre-order for the Mini 7 and it says only up to $260 on trade-in on a similar device. Then, when I look at what they will offer for my perfect, 256GB cellular Mini 6, it says $185. Apple says $230.

If you k12er around or any edu member, bb matches edu discount of apple 50 bucks off. It is a no brainer no matter how you slice it. I myself updated to new gen of ipad regular paying 30 bucks lol.

Maybe glitch, but best buy values cellular less. 350 only for wifi model.

If you have mini 6 there's literally no reason for upgrading. It would've been a different story if Apple gave it OLED or at least 120Hz. But this?

In ‘your’ opinion. People may want apples new AI features, they may want to play those big AAA games, they may use the double ram.

I placed a pre-order yesterday and received $350 trade in value for my Mini6. Could be they changed it over night.

I am upgrading mostly because my 3 year old mini battery life is getting pretty sad these days.

The $350 trade-in makes it more interesting for me to upgrade, but I'll still be paying a few hundred bucks to essentially have the same device (for how I use it).

That said a new battery would be nice, and there's value is resetting the clock on how long it'll be supported by OS and security updates. Especially since this 'update' makes me think Apple has all but given up on the form factor, and the Mini 7 may be the last of the line.

Yeah, "up to 260" is a website coding glitch for sure if they offer more.

But i checked other ipads, and it indeed looks like cellular versions always get less at bestbuy. It could be for 2 reasons:
1) Tradein buyer partner of bestbuy has more plans for wifi models and don't know what to do with cellular. Maybe they refurbish and reuse parts of wifi models while have issues with cellular model. Or maybe they fix client's wifi models more so more demand on it, while cellular parts only can replace cellular models.
2) Apple sends hidden incentives to flood the market with new mini 7s. In order to do so, apple can offer extra money to bestbuy. So apple might be offering 350 as an incentive to upgrade all wifi users, while they for some reason though cellular models need less incentive to move the new model.

Yeah, I changed it to WiFi only and the offer jumped to $350.

I always go for the WiFi only model. I just use the hotspot from my iPhone which hasn’t caused any problems for me thus far.

I agree it's an iterative upgrade, as most upgrades are. Usually not enough value going from the next-to-latest model to the latest model, whether it's iPhone or iPad or Mac or anything else.

I'm upgrading because I need more storage and Cellular, so it made sense to hold off until the next version came out (the only thing WORSE in my case than upgrading from mini 6 to mini 7, would be upgrading from mini 6 to mini 6 😭)

Yes I just pre ordered today for pickup at my local Apple Store on Wednesday. I always upgrade to the next iPad mini at release. I pass my last generation down to my wife and then sell her 2 generations back iPad mini on eBay. Usually get a decent return back.

That's funny. I got $230 trade-in from Apple for 64GB Wifi Mini 6.

Considering upgrade from Mini 5, looks to be a decent switch. Only issues are Cellular (UK 649) vs WF (499) and Pencil, cannot see why USBC Pencil (69) will not work, as just for note taking? Cellular is a problem as eSim only so perhaps difficult to switch for Europe as O2 only support UK. So I hope to check it out this week in store and upgrade, will stick with SG colour I think.
