My first was the iPhone 3, and I've never used screen protectors, but I've always used a case. Not one shattered/broken screen in 16 years. (I'll be sure to update this post in 2-3 days when I accidentally shatter my screen, because I'm not superstitious at all.)

I’ve had mega scratches on iPhone 12-14-15 pros. However the air is spotless so far. iPad Pro 2018 has large scratches too.
Screen protector kills the anti glare so I avoid using one. It’s ok nothing is invincible, I have a tiny scratch on sapphire screen too

Can anyone recommend a specific brand of protector for the Air?

I have tried a couple from Amazon - but even my usual go-to from ESR is a problem because it's just minutely too big and one side starts to bubble. Perhaps it would fit with micro millimetre accuracy which even the included installation frame does not give you...

But, I think these early versions are just a tiny bit too big to fit the screen correctly.

I've always used screen protectors but took the one off my 16 Pro Max for the last 3 months before the 17 Pro Max. I currently have one on my 17 PM but am thinking of taking it off. I just hate the way I feel the edge of the protector when swiping up to unlock the phone.

Does anyone know it the screens are the same on the Pro's as the Air's?

Also, how does AppleCare work in regards to screens? How bad does it have to get before they'll replace the screen?

Just looked it up and for me, here in the UK, and having AppleCare the cost of screen replacement is only £25 ($33) so think I will be going screen protector less.

Tried using it naked when I had iphone X. Soon it got several micro scratches by being in my pocket and purse. It was soo annoying to me. After that always used screen protectors. Zaggs to be specific. This last year I realized Zagg is quite, bad. It attracts finger prints like a magnet and phone screen will be all covered in smudges daily. It gets micro scratches easily etc.

Now for iphone 17 pro I got a Flolab as so many were vouching for it. So far it keeps oily smudges away, is super smooth and great with the anti reflexion, and free replacements! Will see how it holds up. Will get a Torras for back up I think because it takes around 10 days for Flolabs packages to arrive to where I live

No screen protector on my Air. I had an anti glare matte one on my 16PM but eventually I realized reflections were never really a problem for me, but all the grease/oil it collected was. The oleophobic coating on the Air factory screen is nice, the screen is always so clear. Makes me kind of wish I didn’t use a protector—or at least the protector I used (can’t remember the brand)—on my 16PM and just enjoyed the clear factory screen.

I’m not worried about cracks. I drop my phones so rarely (other than my 16PM which was an exception for reasons too boring to explain), basically only one significant drop ever, that I’m willing to just pay to fix the screen if it ever happens.

As far as scratches, I’ll never know if my 16PM screen would have gotten scratches or not since it had the protector (I think there was one tiny scratch on my protector), but I didn’t have protectors on my previous iPhones and I honestly can’t remember if they had scratches or not. Any scratches must not have been significant if I don’t remember, and the Air is supposed to be even more scratch resistant, so I’m opting for no protector. If I have no issues then I’ll probably never use a protector for any future iPhone going forward.

Two possible exceptions:
- I’m considering getting a removable reusable privacy protector for times that I either need privacy or will be around sand (if a company ever makes one for the Air).
- If I notice the factory oleophobic coating wears off (some have said this happens but no idea how long it takes), and if it’s easier to use a protector with oleophobic coating than to reapply coating directly to the screen (never heard of people doing that), then I’ll get an anti grease protector.
