ive always done from backup but I’m pissed because iTunes said I can’t restore from my 7 plus backup .

Are you guys using backup or set up as a new phone everytime you have a new phone?

I always like a fresh start, but due to texts that I need for work I always have to restore from back up since there’s no other way to get my text messages back. That’s why really looking forward to the messages being backed up to iCloud.

Why can't iTunes restore from the 7 Plus backup? That doesn't sound right.

If you restore from iCloud backup, does that only bring over the iPhone settings or does it also bring over the settings you have for the individual apps (ie. What's App, etc)?

always do new. new iphone day is always a tedious day as i sit there with my old phone in my left hand, new one in my right and go through every single setting and mirror them, plus figure out how to set any new features that arent on the old phone. usually takes several hours.

usually always new. but i think this time, since it's only been a year and i'm busy around the X launch time, i'll probably restore.

Yesterday, as soon as my home internet came back, I backed up and updated my 7+ to iOS 11 on iTunes. I then immediately activated my 8+ and restored from backup on iTunes. That’s weird that it wouldn’t let you.

Can you backup from iOS 10.3 iPhone 7 plus backup to the iphone 8 plus with iOS 11? Or did they stop that now? I've always had older backups and I restore it into the new phone with the new iOS and I never have issues.

Had a 7+ 128GB. So will be starting from scratch when I get my 8+ 64GB. Normally I would restore from back up and call it a day. However for $150 I can manually get rid of some of my crap.

Last year I restored from backup on my iPhone 7, so I decided to start fresh this time. Like others have said, it’s like “spring cleaning”.

Restore from back up. It sucks with the new itunes update, they got rid of the Apps page and the ringtone. Now that those are no longer available in itunes, I'll have to restore from back up. Sucks that if I had to start fresh I'd have to rearrange all the apps the way I want it.

Restore from a iTunes back up from my 7+, encrypted. I was amazed how fast and complete the backup was.

Ready to go in about 5 minutes.
I don't know why this time it's acting up it's usually smooth for me.

I didn’t want to take the chance that it would cause problems so I went ahead and updated the 7+ to iOS 11 before setting up the 8+. Ended up being a good thing because it allowed me to use the 7+ for the quick activation thing since they were both on 11.
