Argh! iOS 8 the worst ever!! I hate it...

WOW! AAPL really screwed this up…

FWIW I am an AAPL shareholder since 2006 when in was about $89.

the iPhone 5 seems to have about half the wifi range as a samsung galaxy. wife's galaxy could constantly get reception in the room where iPhone would not find a signal...

iMessage- trying to delete messages. somehow i touch the wrong place on the screen and the 8x previously selected messages are no longer selected… start over. delete 3x messages. And then try to select another 3x messages and the trashcan is no longer an option… have to restart the iPhone! I actually saw the trashcan disappear immediately after selecting a message to delete. apparently this is a common problem.

iphoto- go to download photos from last weeks vacation - iPhoto crashes and needs to re-start. again. and again. and again. won't download last weeks vacation photos but would two weeks ago! restart mac. restart iPhone. then it downloads.

airplay- spent about 4 hours on apple technical support 4 weeks ago trying to get airplay to work with iPhone. it was working fine for weeks and then it just stopped! no mirroring anything! no videos. no pictures. nothing! now I typically have to restart iPhone after using airplay.

iMessage- would not work in airplane mode in Anguilla last week! ios7 worked fine in Mexico last june!

I don't think I restarted my iPhone for a year with iOS 7! I just don't remember ever restarting it!!! Ever!!!

does the yahoo! weather app just completely suck or is it iOS 8? last week on vacation it says weather is 30-50 degrees. when I get back I discover its 12!!! that is a huge difference. being off a couple of degrees is fine. but 18???? really. they can't be closer than 18?? I live between two major cities, washington dc and baltimore. they have abc, nbc, cvs, and fox. they can't get closer than 18 degrees???

I hate it! iOS 8 sucks! if you have not updated, DONT!!! The worst apple iOS since the iPhone 5. I just can't believe they released it… especially when apple apps don't work well… you would have thought they would at least make their own apps work...
 
Sorry that you're having such a poor experience with iOS 8. It's been working great for me, I hope Apple can squash the bugs that you're experiencing soon.

IOS 8 has been great for me.
 
Such a coincidence

I've been a loyal Apple Customer / Shareholder since early 1991, getting in at $20 per share.

Amassing a very robust number each year until early June 2014 when I sold 75% of my holdings at a whopping $645 per share... :)

A 7 for 1 stock split took place shortly thereafter affording me an opportunity to pump up my remaining holdings by purchasing more shares at a mere $93 per share.

Fast forward to the present where like you, I'm using a very buggy version of iOS 8.1.2 in both my iPhone 6 and 6+.

If not for the mind boggling profits I've enjoyed via the stocks I'd be far more irritated with what is far less than Apple's best work...:)
 
agreed, the update was so little and it has so many problems. the icons are the same, everything is still boring. Only difference i see is like a minor update

iOS 8 has been fine on my iPad Air and iP6+. #

iOS 8 is great. If you can't handle it, go Android.

Just like gambling at Las Vegas, buying a new iPhone is a crapshoot.

Some are good and some are bad. Your properly operating iPhone is extremely valuable, not often do they work as advertised.

Yet the good news is Apple's new customers have no clue, nor do they care about performance or specs. It's the ego boosting Apple Logo they find an asset to their vanity. :)

Apple's brilliant, they know this and leverage it to the massive sales volume they enjoy. They've positioned themselves via masterful marketing that more than compensates for today's hit or miss quality.
 
How is the Yahoo weather app Apples fault?
All your issues are not issues for me on any device running iOS 8. Must be you using it wrong. AirPlay works perfect for me always.

Nevermind the icons (who cares about that?) but that's what gets to me.

If it were just new features that were buggy, that would be one thing. But stuff that's worked reliably for years is broken now.

Exaggerate much? I think the odds of getting a good phone are a lot better than a crap shoot. I mean you wouldn't know it by reading forums online but that's just a small percentage of people. the much bigger percentage who have a perfectly working phone do not go online to rave about it.
 
This might seem like a silly question, but have you tried putting on a fresh restore of iOS 8.1.2 on the phone? My iPad mini had a ton of issues with iOS 8, until we did a fresh restore - now it's still a tad slow laggy but 10x better than it was after the 7->8 upgrade.

I like my odds though. My Apple devices work pretty well for me and I daresay the odds of getting a malfunctioning device is so low that it's pretty much negligible for me. Plus, that's what the return policy and Applecare is for. :)

Seriously? Complaining that iMessage doesn't work in airplane mode? Or that the weather in 2 different countries differ?

Iphoto no longer works in ios8, so I am surprised it is even able to load on your iOS device.

So what if you own Apple shares?

I'm waiting until my capital gains tax goes down a bit. However it seems since I've been a customer rather than an investor what said about IOS 8 has been said about every o/s.

Yeah I'm getting pissed off with iOS8 as well. For example, today the Alarm didn't go off because its mixed up the media volume and ringer volume (I had high ringer but 0 on media).

Useless POS. Now I'm late for work.

what does being a shareholder have to do with anything? well - I bought my first iPhone a 5, have a mac, an apple tv, all since becoming a shareholder. consider it research and supporting what I buy. I am not just some geek that blindly supports them no matter what they do because the apple can do no wrong!! I want to know my investment is sound. my wife complains about the samsung galaxy all the time! until iOS 8, I had NO complaints about the functioning of the iPhone. it did everything it was supposed to do perfectly. now it doesn't…

google search the problem of deleting messages in iOS 8. it is a huge problem that people can not delete old messages because the trashcan icon is not available. the only solution is to restart the iPhone.

That is one of the advertised features/advantages of the iPhone. We paid for it. We expect it to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

airplay was one of the main reasons for buying an apple tv. for it to just stop working sucked. to have to restart after using it so many times is just a nuisance.

apps crashing profusely is annoying.

I enjoy hearing the various users experiences, especially those like yours that are candid... and_not_designed to mindlessly praise Apple.

After all, this is an Apple forum of public opinion. Yet that said, the sensitivity of some participants here is so touchy that they take things personally, dive into anger then launch personal attacks without consequences.

It's unfortunate they fail to realize we are simply conducting discussions. No manufacturer is perfect, and most level headed educated consumers look forward to the advantages of sharing rather than being attacked.

The impression that becomes the norm is never speak up, unless it's to sing praises to Apple.

Actually in a near miracle, I've just noticed as of today my iPhones are now perfect....oops I do believe sense of humor is also off limits, sorry :)
