WOW! AAPL really screwed this up…

FWIW I am an AAPL shareholder since 2006 when in was about $89.

Cool!

the iPhone 5 seems to have about half the wifi range as a samsung galaxy. wife's galaxy could constantly get reception in the room where iPhone would not find a signal...

That's because the phone you're using is over two years old and has a weaker wifi chip than the phones out today. This has nothing to do with iOS 8. iOS is software, the issue you're referencing is hardware related. But a newer phone to solve this.

iMessage- trying to delete messages. somehow i touch the wrong place on the screen and the 8x previously selected messages are no longer selected… start over. delete 3x messages. And then try to select another 3x messages and the trashcan is no longer an option… have to restart the iPhone! I actually saw the trashcan disappear immediately after selecting a message to delete. apparently this is a common problem.

I'm sorry you touched the wrong place on your phone and that you lost the selection. Same thing happens to me when I click the wrong place on my Mac. Oh, and also the PC I use at work. Only professional programs like Adobe lightroom remember my last selection. Geez, sucks that your phone doesn't! Do android phones?

iphoto- go to download photos from last weeks vacation - iPhoto crashes and needs to re-start. again. and again. and again. won't download last weeks vacation photos but would two weeks ago! restart mac. restart iPhone. then it downloads.

iPhoto is a program on your computer. Not your phone. It has nothing to do with iOS 8. Apple should we releasing a new photos app for their macs to make syncing between the phone and your computer better. Let's hope this happens soon. And once again, this is not ios8 related.

airplay- spent about 4 hours on apple technical support 4 weeks ago trying to get airplay to work with iPhone. it was working fine for weeks and then it just stopped! no mirroring anything! no videos. no pictures. nothing! now I typically have to restart iPhone after using airplay.

That sucks. No issues here, but I can understand how that's maddening.

iMessage- would not work in airplane mode in Anguilla last week! ios7 worked fine in Mexico last june!

We're you connected to wifi? You need to be connected to wifi for iMessage to work when you're on airplane mode.

I don't think I restarted my iPhone for a year with iOS 7! I just don't remember ever restarting it!!! Ever!!!

iOS 8 I need to restart every day and sometimes several times a day… apps constantly crash. the only way you can get them to work is to restart iPhone. iOS 8 is by far the least stable since the iPhone 5 was released.

Don't ever have to restart my iPhone 6. Is your phone jail broken? Sucks you have to restart it so much.

does the yahoo! weather app just completely suck or is it iOS 8? last week on vacation it says weather is 30-50 degrees. when I get back I discover its 12!!! that is a huge difference. being off a couple of degrees is fine. but 18???? really. they can't be closer than 18?? I live between two major cities, washington dc and baltimore. they have abc, nbc, cvs, and fox. they can't get closer than 18 degrees???

Yahoo whether has nothing to do with iOS 8. Complain on an yahoo forum, or send yahoo a message. Again, another complaint that's not ios8 related.

I hate it! iOS 8 sucks! if you have not updated, DONT!!! The worst apple iOS since the iPhone 5. I just can't believe they released it… especially when apple apps don't work well… you would have thought they would at least make their own apps work...

I agree that ios8 has issues. I agree that apple is not as polished as it used to be. My last post before this was about a bug in ios8 that's driving me a little crazy. But almost none of your complaints are ios8 related, and I think a lot are tied to the fact that you're using a 2 year old device with a brand new operating system. I too wish the os was more polished, but it's hard to help you when you're issues aren't.

running iOS 8.1.2
what does being a shareholder have to do with anything? well - I bought my first iPhone a 5, have a mac, an apple tv, all since becoming a shareholder. consider it research and supporting what I buy. I am not just some geek that blindly supports them no matter what they do because the apple can do no wrong!! I want to know my investment is sound. my wife complains about the samsung galaxy all the time! until iOS 8, I had NO complaints about the functioning of the iPhone. it did everything it was supposed to do perfectly. now it doesn't…

not a troll - just venting!!! They need to fix it.

google search the problem of deleting messages in iOS 8. it is a huge problem that people can not delete old messages because the trashcan icon is not available. the only solution is to restart the iPhone.

Yes i am PISSED that iMessage did not work in airplane mode with wifi!

That is one of the advertised features/advantages of the iPhone. We paid for it. We expect it to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why should iPhoto not import photos from the iPhone? wtf???

airplay was one of the main reasons for buying an apple tv. for it to just stop working sucked. to have to restart after using it so many times is just a nuisance.

apps crashing profusely is annoying.

I don't have any of the issues you describe:

- deleting old iMessages works as it should
- imessage worked on flights with wifi available
- AirPlay works as advertised
- I grant you apps crash, but that is the developers issue, not apples

My 5s or i6 exhibit none of these issues. I suppose with 30 million u6 and i6+ out there some had to have issues. Sorry yours does.

I've always loved Apple's attention to minute details, but the latest OS has seriously pissed me off.

My iPhone 6 keeps forgetting icloud and visual voicemail passwords. My wife and other family members overseas have the same issues. A couple of days ago, I couldn't unlock my phone because it kept throwing up a numeric keypad (without a prompt) on top of the lock screen, again and again (presumably for the voicemail password?).

Typing numbers did nothing and there wasn't an enter key on the keypad. I was in a complete dead end.

In the end, I had to power it down and up to get to the normal unlock passcode screen. Bloody annoying. Not what I expect.

I also had a keyboard come up while trying to take a photo and could not get rid of it. another restart.

nope- my iPhone is all apple. not jail broken. not modified. totally stock except for the case it in is not apple.

Well I'm not an Apple Shareholder -> although I'm not sure what that's got to do with this.

iOS 8 has been fine on my iPad Air and iP6+. #

Since he is a shareholder he gets special tissues to cry into, not sure if they provide a pacifier though. He will probably have to buy his own.

Zero issues with iPhone 5s running the 8.2 beta. Had zero issues with 8.1.2 as well.

Let's be honest there are not zero issues. In my case there are a bunch of "glitches" like copy and paste, and orientation. Nothing really earth shattering aside from IOS keeps losing my home router wifi password, which for whatever reason just started.

Slight bugs here and there, what I meant was that i have none of the issues the OP was describing.
