argh! macbook won't start

My friend (who JUST got his MacBook on Monday, and is his first Mac) has a MacBook, and he just emailed me saying that his MacBook wouldn't start! I recommended using the AC adapter, but he said it made no difference. I'll probably go by his house after work, so I need some ideas. I know this'll be hard since I don't have his MB with me, but I'll update as soon as I get there and get my hands on it.
