It's idiotic that Little Rock, and not Northwest Arkansas, where there's multiple major international businesses and several universities, is getting an Apple Store. Simply idiotic.

Absolutely!!! Why not Fayetteville or the Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers????

C'mon Apple!

6 more states until Apple's take over of the country is complete.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of Apple,
and to the corporate for which it stands,
one nation under Jobs,
iOS,
with lDevices and Macs for some

Sometimes I hate driving to Dallas or Baton Rouge

Yes, I'm surprised Fayetteville doesn't have a store. Then again, they have a decent reseller on-campus.

Wrong, both of you. Wrong. There's one 119th street in Leawood, KS, which is part of/next to Overland Park.

Think -> Look -> Post.

Right... there's technically a store in Kansas. But, there's not a store in the biggest city in Kansas, which is Wichita. It's pretty unbelievable that they haven't put one here. The closest Apple store to here is in Oklahoma City!

Check out MegaByte Computers in Fayetteville. They are an Authorized Specialist and Service Center. They pretty much deal with everything besides iPhones.

Not the Same

True, they are ok, but let's all be honest: it's not the same. Not even close. Nothing against them, but there's just not the same vibe/aura. Ya know?

Never said it was. Just letting you know there are options in your neck of the woods assuming you live in that area.

It's not surprising that Little Rock is first, since it's substantially larger and home to it's own share of Fortune 500 companies. However, I will be surprised if NWA isn't also a recipient of a store in the near future.

p.s. Note that the Little Rock store was announced back in 2007, before any were announced (or built) in Louisiana or Mississippi. It was to have been the first one in the region.

Weird to put it at the Promenade in Chenal -- a dead outdoor mall out in the 'burbs where half the stores are unoccupied and I've never seen more than 3 people walk around.

There's an elegant, hugely popular indoor mall called Park Plaza that's centrally located (close to the university, the best residential neighborhoods, and the downtown area -- it's also the only mall in LR that has the good department stores). Park Plaza would have been infinitely more suitable than the dead Chenal Promenade. Weird choice, Apple usually gets it right.

I'll admit, I was somewhat surprised by this as well. Park Plaza is arguably the nicest (if not largest) mall in the region. It's in a very upscale, urban area of mid-town...which is typically where Apple tends to migrate...not the burbs. In fact, it wouldn't have surprised me for Apple to have located in the upscale, outdoor Midtown center across from Park Plaza (where Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, etc. are located).

Clearly the fragmentation of the Little Rock retail scene confounded a location selection and probably led to some of the delay in the store opening.

Definitely remember that. I was appalled when LA got stores before Arkansas

Yep, and Little Rock has it's own fair share of colleges nearby. UALR, UCA, and then a little further south OBU and HSU. It's a good central location for a first store. I'm about 45 min south of Little Rock. Looking forward to it!

Congratulation!

Not that I could care, there's an apple store not 10 minutes away from my college and 3 of them within 20 minutes from where I live at home.

I think just the opposite, as the last few times I have been there, the center has started to show some signs of life. It definitely began picking up some steam after Antrhoplogie moved in. JCrew is also finally opening their first store in Arkansas, in a space in this center that they originally looked into back in 2007.

Unfortunately this center was finished right when the economy tanked and businesses began to slow down expansion in response. With these high-traffic drawing stores opening up this center should start to really do well. Not to mention they have some pretty good places to eat out there too!

There's no Apple Store in Kansas. There's one in Overland Park, but it's on the Missouri side. KS is still left behind.

lolwat?

Overland Park on the Missouri side? Overland Park is in Kansas, and only Kansas. The store is located next to Town Center and it's in Leawood, not OP. There is also an Apple Store on the Plaza in KCMO. But there most assuredly IS an Apple Store in Kansas.

This. So much this. However, the Fayetteville mall is dead. Perhaps you could put it on Dickson, but that's not an Apple thing. How about putting it in the worthless food court at the Promenade- the entire thing.

I use to live in a house across the street from the promenade in Rogers. GOd how do I miss it. Nothing better than being a high schooler living across from the Promenade.

Why not at George's ? On Dickson street.

None in Vermont

I'd think Burlington is a good site for an Apple Store: laidback, yet progressive Apple-like culture, major college in town and close enough to Montréal for tax-avoiding Quebecois.

As much as I'd like Montana to have the next store, you have a good reason to locate the next one there.
