No HomeKit...no buy

This. I legitimately don't get why companies are being so coy about HomeKit integration.

I understand that the unwashed masses are perfectly fine letting jeff bezos listen to them pee, but those of us who care literally won't buy something unless it does HomeKit.

Waiting on that netatmo with HomeKit using iCloud

Me too. It’s been so long now I’ve almost given up

Looking at their site, this doorbell seems like it's the ecobee of door buzzers (that it works with any wiring and in place of your current doorbell). I gotta say, I'm intrigued.

The only way I will move away from Nest is if some of these companies start delivering HomeKit support.
I’ve given up on HomeKit and am going all in on nest now. Waited for siri to improve and for Apple to release home assistants but ended up just getting a couple google homes. I now have one in every room and a hub max in the kitchen, and am looking to swap out some of the homes for hub maxes now give how much I enjoy them.
Up until now, every smart home product I’ve gotten has been both HomeKit and Google assistant compatible with the hopes that Apple would make improvements in the space, but they really don’t seem to be doing anything while Google and Amazon keep pressing on.

I’ve been eagerly awaiting the Netatmo Doorbell too. My only gripe about it is the design. People have been trained for years to look for a circular button to press to ring the doorbell. The netatmo button is square and the camera is (obviously) circular. I’m betting the majority of people will try to press on the camera lens to ring the door bell and smugde it up with their grimey fingerprints. :p

Here is one with no fees and great reviews. Its an Anker company which seems to make reliable products. https://amzn.to/32pJDSr

Why wait there, get triple lens camera with wide angle and telephoto lens, bring instagram filter because we want to see intruders with red'ish face. Please don't forget dual led flash for white balancing.

Apple better start twisting some arms to get HomeKit support in this stuff.
Look out for 2020 after their subscription services are firmly in place. They will do what they did with software and speakers. They will release a few HomeKit products themselves that exploit all the tech built into it, forcing competitors to support HomeKit or miss access to a billion high end users. Later the other companies will eclipse Apple, because they should because of their focus. It will then be said that Apple is loosing to them when really Apple got what they wanted.

traditional video doorbells

lol. Videos doorbells have been around for like 5 milliseconds and they're already "traditional?" My doorbell is just a button that makes a noise. I think that's a little more "traditional."

Now get off my grass. I just mowed it with a traditional battery powered lawn mower.

Why do these modern digital doorbells need to be ugly warts on the side of houses? Where is the tasteful design?

So there are no gutters, circuit breaker boxes, or electrical meters on the side of your house?

Video doorbells have been around for 7 years, hardly "5 milliseconds." In my neighborhood, they're pretty common.

That said, "traditional" doesn't mean what you think it means.

Seems like the "traditional" reference is a reference to those very tradtional doorbells like the one that you have.
